spndnchz Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 So if I'm reading these recent posts correctly, old man PA uses twitter? He's here on twitter.
MattPie Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 He's here on twitter. Can't hit twitter from from work. Is it all twits about kids on his lawn and squirrels? :)
Stoner Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Inferentially. Sale goes through and we'll still have unanswered questions. We'll just have more hope. Am I the only one who has no idea what chz is talking about lately? Have she and Jack gotten together for 4:20 meetings?
Two or less Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 It wasn't a retweet. Anyway, Mendola's reporting never said the sale would be announced before the next home game. You can read it whatever way you want, but, the fact that his employees can't use the owners box anymore is a pretty telling sign that he is losing control of the team as we speak.

Two or less Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 "By the next home games" sounds like double-talk. I could be totally wrong, but i think all the paper work is complete and Pegula just can't wait Golisano's people going to the games on a free ride anymore, however, i don't think this will be official for several weeks, despite the owners box being empty, because the owners must vote Pegula in to make it official. From what i understand, it must be a in-person vote, thus why most news organizations mention all-star weekend as the date because all the owners will attend and vote. But, since all the paper work is signed off and complete, the owners box is no longer available for Golisano's use, and thats how i read it. I could be way off though.

BeachedNLA Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Interesting... Was reading some stuff on Galisano. Apparently when he bought Sabres he was on the Forbes 400 Richest... So I went there: Forbes Top 400, Net Worth Galisano no longer listed among the top 400. Pegula is # 110 (at $3 Billion, Net Worth) Also interesting that Robert Rich of Rich Products (lists home as in Florida) is ranked #182 ($2 Billion Net Worth).
Cereal Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Galisano no longer listed among the top 400. He's at #332, worth $1.2 billion.
Onceagain Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 wow pegs has more money than Oprah! and Donald Trump!
Two or less Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 wow pegs has more money than Oprah! and Donald Trump! I believe he becomes 3rd richest owner in the NHL. And SDS, yes, yes i do. lol
spndnchz Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 You post too early in the morning to be Brad I am the walrus. goo goo g'joob.
Stoner Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Anonymous writer on buffalorising.com reports: "According to people close to the transaction, it's likely that the sale of the Buffalo Sabres from Tom Golisano to Terry Pegula will be announced sometime on Monday. ... If our information is correct, Pegula, a Pennsylvania businessman with ties to Western New York, will be on hand at HSBC Arena to watch his new team, the Sabres, take on the Flyers." http://www.buffalorising.com/2011/01/sabres-sale-likely-announced-monday-pegula-to-take-control.html Jeez, now even the "reporters" can't be named!
mphs mike Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 As anxious as we are as fans, and as ridiculous as the speculation has gotten, it MAY be nice symbolism that the first game of the Pegula regime is against his (formerly) beloved Broad Street Bullies!
Stoner Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 1. Bradley came with other references, such as Dan Rooney, so that appears to be legit and not just buying favors for unqualified friends. 2. TP sold his business - didn't he? What would he care about shale in NYS? Revisiting number 2. I found an interesting little blurb on OnwardState.com, a relatively new online news organization serving the Penn State community. “If you could tell students here at Penn State one thing, what would it be?” He paused for just a millisecond before saying, I would tell students that this contribution could be just the tip of the iceberg, the first of many such gifts, if the development of the Marcellus Shale is allowed to proceed. http://onwardstate.c...d-for-students/ Sounds like Pegula will continue to have a financial interest in the shale development. At least I assume he was talking about gifts he could make, "if"... (Although it can be read as the first of many such gifts from people getting rich in the industry.) In an editorial on the same site, a writer took the comment badly: "My personal take is that he assumes students don’t know what the word “bribe” means. Am I alone in my skepticism?" http://onwardstate.c...become-gasland/

Why formerly? If he was buying the Flyers, don't you think he'd be described as a "huge Flyer fan"?
mphs mike Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Why formerly? If he was buying the Flyers, don't you think he'd be described as a "huge Flyer fan"? I've read he grew up a fan of the Flyers and Bernie Parent was his hero in May 1975. I suspect he's now a bigger Sabres fan than Flyers.
BeachedNLA Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 He's at #332, worth $1.2 billion. Oops... Was spelling his name wrong (when did search). My bad. Thnx.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Oops... Was spelling his name wrong (when did search). My bad. Thnx. Let me guess....you also say: Eye-talian? ;)
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 do you think this guy will lower the concession prices?

So whoever wrote that will probably be working in TBN sports dept some day.

If his thirst for the cup at the expense of the other 29 teams is as strong as his thirst for money at the expense of the environment then he can help our Sabres. Bring him to me. Mua-ha-ha-ha.
wonderbread Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I don't care if The whole Goddang state lights up like a jewish jewelers store on Krystal Nacht. I want a cup. And I live here Born and bred on shale grounds. Trout streams I've fished for 20 years are being threatened.
spndnchz Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Pegula's intro song tomorrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11fT8CwI3Zk That lean, mean, mean green...
