Stoner Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Buffalo News has a very different take on the news conference than does GR. Also, Quinn did not say that the agreement was that the Sabres would remain here forever. He said that the purchasing group agreed not to relocate, and then--in a different sentence--said that the Sabres will be here forever. Which they will be, do not worry. But watch the vid, you'll see that the reassurance is divorced from his description of the buyout: http://blogs.buffalo...abres-sale.html Wow, what sloppy work by GR, whose quote is: “In bankruptcy, we committed to a non-relocation agreement, which we didn’t have to do, to keep the Buffalo Sabres here forever. From a fans point of view, that’s all they needed to worry about.” Would the non-relocation agreement "previously negotiated" be the HSBC Arena lease from the period of its construction? That agreement ran until 2022. Oh, no! Pegula is going to move the Sabres to State College, PA!
Eleven Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Would the non-relocation agreement "previously negotiated" be the HSBC Arena lease from the period of its construction? That agreement ran until 2022. Doubtful. A tenant always can break a lease and move. There might be a ton of money to pay, but a lease /= nonrelocation agreement.

I don't really know what the hell I am reading, but I found this: "Non-relocation clauses were included in the Sabres’ lease with the HSBC Arena in return for this public investment, which commits the team to the arena and to Buffalo through 2022." http://www.osc.state.ny.us/press/releases/feb03/22503report.htm

I'd love to read the agreement(s).

Two or less Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Sale of Sabres is imminent according to Nick Mendola- (WECK 1230) — A source reached out to me and says the sale of the Buffalo Sabres is imminent. While the source could not name Terry Pegula as the buyer, they did inform me that some high-ranking members of Paychex, a company Tom Golisano owns, have received notice that their use of the owners box will cease by the next home games due to the impeding sale of the team. Link- http://www.nickmendola.com/source-sabres-deal-impending/
Realist Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Can't come soon enough. If Paychex can't use the owners box, does that mean it would happen by next week already?
spndnchz Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 What he meant was next home game is Tuesday, would expect announcement over the weekend.
Derrico Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Oh please let it be true. I'm starting to get really sick of the he said she said, this source can't be named bs.

spndnchz Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 It wasn't a retweet. Anyway, Mendola's reporting never said the sale would be announced before the next home game. Inferentially. Sale goes through and we'll still have unanswered questions. We'll just have more hope.
