I cannot for the life of me figure out why Vanek never draws a penalty in front of the net. He constantly gets crushed and there's never a call. Makes me furious anytime Myers get called for "Cross checking" when Vanek gets pounded every night.

Lmfao once again Lalime proves he is no longer (if he ever was) a reliable goalie in the NHL, backup or otherwise. Can't believe I took so much flak in the off-season for wanting him gone.. geez.

One reason we have a losing record so far this season is that we're 22 games into the season, and still yet to have a truly dominating goaltender performance.

Miller played extremely well his past few games. And while Enroth was far from "dominating" he was still pretty good, all things considered.

Anyway, got this gem from my friend via text:

"Hey you can't blame him, that pass was probably a better idea than giving it to Craig."

Well a Sabres loss is all but official now. I can't remember the last time the Sabres won with Lalime. Nor can I remember the last time the Sabres won both games in a back-to-back.

Well he is definitely not making a case for himself tonight with that last goal...

Lalime is 9-24 since coming to the Sabres. It is hard to feel confident against any opponent when he's in net.

9-24-5, actually. Soon to be 9-25-5. Impressive.

Yes, Miller's playing well. But sometimes you need to win games 1-0 or 2-1 on the strength of your goaltender, and that hasn't happened so far.

And if you thought Lalime was gonna help that cause then the jokes on you.

Haha, no I wasn't suffering any delusion about that. I was just thinking about how nice it must be to pick up a 1-goal lead and keep it. :(

Too bad, pretty good night for Patrick before, and since, that goal.

Harry did it again! I don't believe it! Sabres down by one... win the third, win the game!

Pretty crappy call though - on the replay it's pretty clear he had it covered and Hall dug it out from under him.

I've tried to withhold judgment on Niedermayer, but enough's enough. This is the guy who's supposed to show the "kids" the way out of the wilderness?

I watched him on the far right win on a 3 on 2 break. Grier was down the left wing and McCormick in the middle. Grier's pass went off Cody and bounced behind Niedermayer. He turned his head, looked at it and absolutely quit on the play, cruising into the corner to make a nice gentle turn back out of the zone.

Then a little later he had the puck just outside the Tampa line with two of his teammates about to leave the Tampa zone. He lazily slipped it back toward Morrisson, who seemed to be shocked. He played it like it was a radioactive turd. Suddenly it's deep in the Buffalo zone. Didn't get that play. Why not just dump it in on the delayed offside?

As hard as I've been on Lalime in this thread, the rest of the team needs to score more than 1 ###### goal against the Lightning. Come ###### on....

Gaining the zone tonight has been an exercise in futility.
