DFITZ1 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 He is, and always will be my favorite Sabre!
JujuFish Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Isn't this a day late? Could have sworn he was the born the same day as a friend of mine whose birthday was yesterday.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 The one and only OG Perreault............... x11
Eleven Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 He was the franchise. He was the straw that stirred the drink, my apologies to Mr. Ali. He put people in the seats, brought the team to a finals (and a couple of semifinals, but I know, that means 0 to some folks on this board), and made the team a part of Buffalo. Can you imagine Dale Tallon instead? Can you imagine what this team wouldn't have been without that smooth-skating ambassador of hockey? Damn, Perreault was cool. He even was nice in person. I ran into him at Mass a few times (this is when I was a child, and Perreault belonged to our parish, because if anything, he was a regular guy), and although I never bugged him for a sig (my mother would have sooner killed me than have me ask for an autograph in a church), he always saw me looking at him, and always smiled back. The man was the essence of cool. He was also the essence of nice, charitable, etc.... everything that we don't think star athletes are now. F*cker stole my number, though.
bob_sauve28 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Guy on my hockey team turned 60 last weekend and he is still a really good player. Maybe Gilbert can play for us too. Happy Birthday to one of the greatest all time Sabres.

Happy Birthday to one of the greatest all time Sabres. I played against a guy last April in a pickup game in Michigan who was 65 and had the best hands I'd ever seen. I had no idea where the shot was going. It made me happy to think i might be able to play the game for that long and I won't end up half as good lol

Are you counting the semifinals before the final as one of the semifinals?

I very much want to be still active at that age rather than riding around in an electric wheel chair
Stoner Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I am. OK. He got them to the quarterfinals that year too. :)
shrader Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 F*cker stole my number, though. Long story short, a couple years ago when we were getting our jerseys for my beer league, a few people suggested that I wear #11. Not a chance. I played against a guy last April in a pickup game in Michigan who was 65 and had the best hands I'd ever seen. I had no idea where the shot was going.
