Well no, actually I'm not kidding you. I did state in my post that I'm not a fan of Torres but if Regiers such a sage when it comes to evaluating talent then he obviously got it wrong with both Torres and Scotts brother.

Your beef needs to be with Ruff's system, and not with Torres and maybe to some extent with Darcy.

Ruff currently plays two scoring lines, his third is a checking line and the fourth is the energy line. Torres would never have fit the third line anyways.

The Canucks are trying to roll three scoring lines, much like the Sabres of '05-'06. Maybe that is what Torres needed.

The Ruff of '10 doesn't necessarily use his players in their best positions, which is a big change from the Ruff of '06 who played with what he had.

The Canucks are trying to roll 3 scoring lines because Torres and Malhotra are scoring. If Torres was having the same success he had in Buffalo believe me they wouldn't be rolling 3 scoring lines. Granted their scoring depth is better than the sabres(primarily because they are scoring), which brings me to my original post. Regier could have had Torres for this year for around what he paid scotts brother who is a checker but has 2 points in 14 games. If your defensive specialists can chip in the odd goal you are seen to have scoring depth regardless of the coaches system. The canucks have this.

Torres also looks like he is more interested in playing hockey in Vanc than he was while here. I watched a couple of their games so far and his energy level, hits, blocks etc seemed more present than ever in Buffalo. Maybe the goals energized him. Or vice versa, we'll never know.

Nieds started the season well, unfortunately that went south pretty quick, so i'm not surprised that he's getting piled on. still hoping he'll bring that hitherto heard-of veteran locker room leadership, don't see it yet though

I agree, torres is playing like a man possessed and it will be interesting to see how he does against Buffalo next week. Too bad he didn't bring that same gusto to our team last year.

In his Star of the Week interview on NHLN, Torres commented on his previous coaches and how some of them just screamed and yelled all the time, making it impossible to just go out and play. I guarantee you he was talking about Lindy, and the question that prompted that response seemed almost like a set up, but in any case, I think Torres is going to be a wrecking ball when he comes to town and maybe even get in a fight with a Kaleta type.

That's the wierd thing about Ruff.....if he was coached the way he coaches his players....he would have flipped out as a player.

As a professional, I would have a hard time being micro-managed my a coach. This isn't junior hockey, and it's not the military. I will respect my coach if he respects me enough to go and do my job by using my skill and instincts. By all means, install game plans for certain situations and move players around as needed, but if you want a lifeless robot that you can control.....that's not kosher. If Lindy feels he needs to micromanage everyone because he can't trust them, then you obviously have the wrong players on this team. But Lindy says this team is a cup contender......so it's on him.

Lindy doesn't like strong minded players that will challenge him it seems. They all end up going bye-bye.

He's talking about Ken Hitchcock.

Torres was famously in the Der-Hitch-Hockey-Dog-Haus
