Calvin Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 I think the fans' major beefs are that these guys don't produce great highlight reel plays or score clutch goals. i can do without the highlight reel plays, as long as we get the clutch performances. i'll give Roy a lot of credit, he came into this season a changed man. maybe he really wants out of being in the SGM Board of Directors. Connolly? points or no points, i'd be happy never seeing a #19 playing for the Sabres again. maybe the Rags will take him off our hands before the deadline.
JoDo Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 He would have to agree, though, right? Like LaLoss did last year? Any kind of requirement for an injury or inactivity? A conditioning assignment implies the player is not in condition at the time of the assignment. Whether its a good idea or not, it's not happening. Was that really just a shot at Lalime? He's usually played "good" but not "spectacular". The team has always played poorly in front of him. What you're seeing this year is a Miller who's not playing "spectacular" and he's achieving the same results Lalime always did. The team is a defensive wreck starting with the forwards. If I see Connolly throw one more drop pass or "behind the back" which almost always gets picked off, I will throw my remote through the television. I mean, I teach my PEE WEE kids not to do that!
JoDo Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Chicago had to let players walk. The Buffalo owner, meanwhile, is sitting on five to seven million dollars. Is he "sitting" on it. Buffalo can't have nearly the revenue Chicago has. Their average ticket price is around $10 lower and their brand market can't be nearly as much as the original six Stanley Cup champions

Eleven Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 don't forget that the United Center also seats over 20,000 people for a full house But there were not full houses until recently, and also until recently, there was only 1/2 year of TV revenue.
Patty16 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 don't forget that the United Center also seats over 20,000 people for a full house and the sabres dont have 5-7 million in cap space. PA and I went over this, the number as best as can be determined is 3-4 million. This puts them right in the middle of the league for available cap room, pretty decent considering our market size.

I don't know why someone can't just look up the accurate figures. PA looks at himself in the mirror. Damn cataracts.
spndnchz Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Right now the Sabres cap space, and I say right now because it changes frequently, is $3.17 million. Every team gets a bucket of LTIR 'rebates' to the cap spent. You also have to factor in what bonuses the players will get at the end of the season. Not sure saying Sabres are in the middle of these numbers is correct. If you were to look through the actual cap space and pay the bonuses the actual 'spent' cap money is wildly different. The Bruins right now are 4 million over the cap, while the bottom 10 teams are anywhere from 7 million to 15 million under the cap, including performance pay. Also over, today, are Devils, Flyers, Calgary, Detroit, Wild, and Rangers. Now they are not in NHL cap trouble, but would be over if all the players on the active roster were to get the bonuses due them. Most of these teams have big money on LTIR right now.
