korab rules Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Regier, despite his disappointment, believes the right people are in place to turn the team around. Several NHL general managers have already made direct or veiled threats to shake up their roster, including Bryan Murray of Northeast Division rival Ottawa. Regier isn't ready to go that route. "We're not talking about bad people," he said. "We're actually talking about good people who, if we talk about focus, we talk about energy level and things like that, then it's well within their capabilities. It's a matter of doing it. That's where the first focus has to come in, and hopefully we get it done that way." Regier, though not thinking about transactions yet, clearly will chat with other GMs about trades. He engaged in several phone calls while the Sabres practiced in Philips Arena. "When I was on the phone, that's who I'm talking to is counterparts," Regier said. "Those conversations, I have them on a daily basis, with at least a few GMs a day, so I'm aware of names that are being talked about, names that are supposedly being talked about in some cases. There is a little bit of talk going on for this early in the season, maybe a little more than normal. Whether that amounts to anything, who knows?" The music is playing. Anyone care to dance?
darksabre Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 The music is playing. Anyone care to dance? Sure but don't rub against me. Someone spiked my drink with Viagra. This is the worst homecoming ever.
carpandean Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Darcy's history more than him saying that he's got the right people makes me doubt that he'll make a move. Ever heard of buy low, sell high? You don't sell high by saying that the roster is full of slugs that you're going to pawn off on some sucker for better players. The most that you'll usually here is "shake up the roster" or "needs a change of scenery." However, as I said, nothing in his past makes me think he will move. Mostly, I'm just saying that the quote did nothing to increase or decrease my estimate of the chance that it will actually happen.
korab rules Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Sure but don't rub against me. Someone spiked my drink with Viagra. This is the worst homecoming ever. Here, take this roofie and get in my van. I'll take you to see my weird Uncle Dwight. You'll feel better in the morning.

Two or less Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 At this point, it may be better if the team remains in tact. Regier's recent history of trades isn't a good one, the last thing we need is to get owned on another trade. Keep them all here and allow the new GM to come in, evaluate and make his own trades.

R_Dudley Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I posted my thoughts on this in complaint Thursdays but since it has a thread now; My link
Two or less Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 the new GM... LOL... is Darcy stepping down and letting Quinn take over?? You honestly think Darcy would survive another year if this team misses the playoffs? C'mon....
thesportsbuff Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 You honestly think Darcy would survive another year if this team misses the playoffs? C'mon.... You honestly think he wouldn't?
Two or less Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 You honestly think he wouldn't? Yes. He's in his contract year, isn't he? It's not like firing him would force them to pay for 2 GMs....
bunomatic Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 It really would be the best case scenario to get rid of Regier but missing the playoffs would be a huge step back for this club after the gains they made last regular season. Or was that simply an illusion ,luck and the hand of Miller that lead us to the eastern conference title because from what I've seen this team is so discombobulated(is that a word?) I find it hard to believe they even made the playoffs last year.
Eleven Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Yes. He's in his contract year, isn't he? It's not like firing him would force them to pay for 2 GMs.... He is Quinn's puppet. Firing Darcy just means they hire another puppet. Kermit, Fozzy, then another puppet. Maybe Ernie. Then Bert. It won't stop until the blighty Quinn is gone.
deluca67 Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Yes. He's in his contract year, isn't he? It's not like firing him would force them to pay for 2 GMs.... For Quinn to fire Regier or for Regier to fire Ruff one thing has to happen that just wont. Someone in the Sabres front office will have to admit they are wrong.
bunomatic Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Take a look at Regier. He believes he knows better than everyone else how to run this team but as has been said he will never admit to being wrong. The closest he came was in the post playoff presser. Still couldn't do it. The problem is when you think you know it all you stop learning and thats where we stand with Regier. After 13 years we're no closer to winning the cup than we were when he came in and he's done nothing to warrant that window of opportunity. The goal is to win a cup and he's failed. Move on mr. there's a hungrier G.M waiting to make it happen. Time for 'snail pace' to get outta town.

Kristian Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 You honestly think Darcy would survive another year if this team misses the playoffs? C'mon.... There isn't one shred of evidence to support the claim that he would go, should the team miss the playoffs. Not one.
darksabre Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 We should get a billboard. It worked for the Bills fans.
bunomatic Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 .... this is a recording. Can't get this assclown fired quickly enough, so just sit and do nothing like you always do Darcy. Thats the problem. Einsteins definition of insanity was doing something over and over and always getting the same result and continuing to do it...over and over. Well thats my definition of Regier. Its the same every year. He refuses to accept that maybe, just maybe, these guys just aren't that good. We all know that some of these guys are good but the sum of the parts or the chemistry just isn't that good.
inkman Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 There isn't one shred of evidence to support the claim that he would go, should the team miss the playoffs. Not one. Thank you.
