Two or less Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 Sabres confirm- http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=541615
gregkash Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 GR is reporting Niedermayer is not with the team on this trip.
jimiVbaby Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 It's on the Buffalo News now too. He's taking the place of Rob Niedermayer who's wife is having a baby. While I like what Luke can bring to the table for the future, I wouldn't expect much from him. Also, on some level I really feel bad for Mancari. He's leading Portland in points, has some NHL experience and still can't get a shot over a rookie. Unless this is just a center for center move...
Two or less Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 Interesting. Something like this happened last year when we went to Philly and Ennis scored his first NHL goal. haha Havn't been too big on Niedermayer this year so i don't think they will miss him too much tonight, essp. since Philly played last night and have been struggling.
Sterling Archer Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 It's a we all know that Mancari suck at an NHL level and everyone is well aware of it.
BuffalOhio Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Luuuuuuuuuuke, I'm your faaaaatthhhhherrrrrrrr. Now make me proud.
jimiVbaby Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 It's a we all know that Mancari suck at an NHL level and everyone is well aware of it. I'm not advocating bringing him up, it just has to suck to be him at times like these.

Bingo, I'm pretty sure thats the thinking behind this move. Besides like some other posters here center is the one position on this teams forwarsds that I think needs the most help. Good time to test the kids mettle for later in the season.

The WGR site refers to Niedermayer as being on "maternity leave"--- is it still considered maternity leave for the dude?
MattPie Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 The WGR site refers to Niedermayer as being on "maternity leave"--- is it still considered maternity leave for the dude? Only for the last couple decades. :) You can use the term FLMA if you like: http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/benefits-leave/fmla.htm
Eleven Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 The WGR site refers to Niedermayer as being on "maternity leave"--- is it still considered maternity leave for the dude? Not without some elective surgery, it isn't.

Problem is, some guys have more than enough to be successful in the AHL, but are just not talented enough to consistantly play at an NHL level. Mancari is a perfect example. An even better example is Alexandre Giroux. 253 AHL goals since 04/05, and can't sniff an NHL roster. His NHL line in the same time period: 31 games, 4 G, 5 A.
wildcat48 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Luke Adam heading to Buffalo Published on: 26th October, 2010 by Chris Roy The leading scorer among AHL rookies is getting the call to the NHL. Luke Adam was recalled by the Buffalo Sabres this morning and will make his NHL debut tonight in Philadelphia as Sabres’ forward Rob Niedermayer didn’t travel with the team due to his wife giving birth to a baby girl on Monday. I did a little looking into Giroux and it seems as though the issue is the same with Mancari. Skating. If you can't keep up then you won't score. Although coincidentally Luke Adam's biggest knock is in fact his skating.
shrader Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 And since it hasn't been said yet, congratulations to both Adam and Niedermayer.
spndnchz Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 And since it hasn't been said yet, congratulations to both Adam and Niedermayer. Looks like someone switched back to milk with the Cheerios. Yup, congrats. Although I still think of Nied's as someone too old to be having babies.

As someone who has watched Giroux live for the last 3 or 4 years, he scores a lot, but is a horrible skater, and his main game is cherry-picking. I would like to know how many of the 250 goals were on breakaways or odd-man rushes. I would venture to say quite a bunch of them.
shrader Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Looks like someone switched back to milk with the Cheerios. Maybe it'll be a subject for complaint thursday at some point. Then again, we might need something new like "shrader smash sunday" for this one.
