Stoner Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Remember at the season-ending presser, Larry said he wanted to sign Lindy to an extension, if Lindy was interested. Lindy, put on the spot, said he was. Later in the summer, Lindy said he didn't want to think about an extension, he just wanted to chillax. OK, he said relax, I'm pretty sure. Unless I missed an announcement, Lindy has not signed that extension. Where does that leave things? Are they negotiating now? Has Lindy decided to finally play out the string? How does this play in the lockerroom? Do the players smell blood in the water? Are they bailing on the lame duck coach as we speak? The most interesting question to me if how Larry will react to having been rebuffed. Will he pull a Bass Pro and start stalking Lindy? Or will he fire Lindy after a slow start? (A nurse wipes some slobber off PA's chin and promises to be back, hun, in a few with a fresh Depends.)
deluca67 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 It should take the money aspect out the decision if a change is deemed warranted. Unfortunately there is a better chance of Crosschecking going to see 'Jurassic Park' than there is a chance of any significant changes will be made.

Unfortunately there is a better chance of Crosschecking going to see 'Jurassic Park' than there is a chance of any significant changes will be made. My dentures chattered when I read that. Had to think about it for a few seconds. OK, five minutes. Now that I think about it, Larry won't want to be the mean old suit who fired the legend of Clarence. He'll let it sort itself out at the end of the season. I mean, what's another lost season to him? Time moves slowly to cats like that. 10 years to find out Bass Pro isn't coming. Larry is on Al Qaeda time.
nobody Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Lindy could sign with another team after the season and Quinn would still think he could get him signed to the extension.

Darcy did not receive a receipt.
SwampD Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Lindy could sign with another team after the season and Quinn would still think he could get him signed to the extension. Now that's funny.
bob_sauve28 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 If anyone watched the segment in the first intermission about "Lindey's Pranks" should realize this people are not playing with a full deck. First off it came across as stupid. Not funny or interested at all. Secondly, there was such a comfort zone with these people that they acted like they were living on their own feifdom. Is a *replaceable* head coach suppose to be so deeply ingrained in Sabres lore while he is still the coach? That segment really bothered me.
bunomatic Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Its time for a change. As much as I like and support Lindy it is time for a change. Quinn needs to step aside or sell his share. Both Regier and Ruff need to go. They are dragging the honor of this team and its fans through the mud.

Theres only so much polishing a turd can take, and Lindy has done as best he can while Regier keeps testing to see how much less he can give him and turn out a decent team. Firing Lindy is a bad move, and he won't spend much time waiting for a new offer from another team. The change has to come above him at GM if you want to see a change on the ice. Its funny, Lindy is respected around the league as one of the best coaches, but has anyone outside of Buffalo ever considered Regier one of the better GM's in the league???

frisky Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Lindy not going to get fired. He'll get an extension. Darcy won't get fired either. Regardless of whether a change is needed or not, it's not going to happen. End of story. What I'd like to see are some moves for fresh blood on the roster. Not peripheral moves. Move Vanek. Move Connolly. Vanek gets outbattled. Is slow to the puck. Is invisible. Connolly is a perimeter player with no passion and great hands. Been long overdue. Vanek I don't think will get back to being a 40 goal scorer. At this point 20+ is looking like a stretch.

rickshaw Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Connolly is very frustrating, but I think he needs someone on his line who will pull the trigger and fire his one time passes. As for Ruff, again, I'll say it. It's time to change the culture. It's not a slight against him, it's just time for change.
