It's the Sabres 40th Birthday, I don't care if you're in panic mode, today is a celebration!

Good man.

As it happens, it's also someone else's birthday today...

Let's hope it's a great one!

Well a Happy Birthday to you too.

May the Sabres send it off with a great start and you end it in old Bflo Bar style with 3am last call, although in the one local gin joint they'd lock the doors and let us stay still till sun up.

Gads, to be young and insane again instead of just insane.

40 years of some joys and lots of torture...and my liver is paying the price for years of fandom!

I wouldn't trade one minute of being a Sabre fan, although some are easier to relive than others!

Happy Birthday old friend

When do we get a decent book about the Buffalo Sabres?

With 40 years now behind the franchise, there is more than enough material to fill a proper sized book. Here are some possible chapters and subjects:

The first chapter could be - and should be - devoted to the Knox brothers, and their efforts to bring NHL hockey to Western New York. Readers might be surprised to learn that the Knox brothers tried - very hard - to bring the Seals to Buffalo.

Punch Imlach - the man who put together and coached one of the most successful expansion teams in NHL history - would warrant a chapter of his own.

A few stars of note skated for the Sabres.

I sure hope we don't have to wait for a Stanley Cup championship before we get a good book.

I guess the operative word in your mind might be "decent." Budd Bailey's book might be the best so far. (And he considers his book with Rob Ray to be, in effect, Part II.)

Paul Wieland's recent book was on the disappointing side. I've heard good things about Swados' book.

Rick's memoirs could be pretty interesting, if he ever decided to tell some tales out of school.

How is it their birthday today? Nice sentiment though.

I'm just wondering if Sundae Bafo is going to make an appearance. She's definitely still alive (not really THAT old) and last I knew, was still a skating instructor. I would assume she can still skate. Not sure about the sword toss thing though.
