eball: Sweet sweater.

I refuse to buy a current player's jersey. I got burnt on LaFontaine, Gilmore, Barnes and Briere in the past.

When our now current home jerseys came out, I got myself a #11 Perreault. I'll likely do the same with the new whites. Can't go wrong with the original and greatest Buffalo Sabre.

Did you get the Perreault customized yourself or is there someplace online that will do that?

FWIW, the price is high, like $300, but you can gt an original jersey, #11 signed by Perreault at the alumni site.

Unsigned are $200. I think they only come in XL though.

I had to customize it myself at the Sabres Store but I'm pretty sure you can do the same anywhere.

I like the Sabres store because all numbers and nameplates are sewn on and not heat-pressed.

$200 to $300? I think I paid around $150 for mine.

Maybe it felt like you got burned on LaFontaine after we traded him to the Rangers, but that's probably a sweet jersey to have now that his number is retired. (Even if it's the black and red version that he only wore for one season.)

I loved watching Perreault as a yout but I'd have say in hindsight that he was a flawed player. He was told by Punch not to worry about defense in the early years, to focus on offense to put fannies in the seats. That's why he probably lost out on playing in the Summit Series in '72, which seemed totally unfair. Perreault had very little leadership ability.

For my money, Hasek was the best at what he did, so that makes him the greatest Sabre to now, despite his character flaws.

If Hasek or Perreault could have done it alone, then they would have. But management never surrounded them with enough quality/character players to get over the hump.

Unfortunately none of the "greatest Sabres" went on to win the cup for the city which make me think that if that blessed event ever happens, then the greatest Sabre of all is yet to come, one who combines talent with character.

Sorrentino's does a good job to. And you can buy your jersey dirt cheap somewhere and then take it to them and they'll customize it for you. Everything is sewn. My mom had them put the nameplates on my football jerseys in high school.

I don't think the Jersey Nazis can complain. Looks pretty damn close to th original.

Am I a Jersey Nazi if I state I don't like old player names (Perrault) on the new jerseys?

IMO: go with go with the classic jersey if you're going to go with old names.
