It’s only preseason, but the Pirates have work to be done

Nashua, NH – The Portland Pirates most likely wish they had another week of practice after their lone preseason game didn’t go as planned.

 

The Manchester Monarchs jumped out to a 5-0 lead, and held on to defeat the Pirates, 5-2, in front of 800-plus at Conway Arena in Nashua, NH on Tuesday night.

I'm sure having not having Enroth doesn't exactly help things.

They'll make the playoffs, as long as they get Enroth or a suitable replacement.

It was an ugly game for sure.... The whole team was just sloppy on the ice and the turnover were really bad... especially by Persson. He looks so out of place on most plays. For example, he's the last defenseman back and instead of staying back, he checks up and pinches on the play which allowed for a breakaway. In reality, four of the five goals were breakaway goals, and all were scored because of poor defensive play or a turnover in the neutral zone.
