I'm sure coaching has nothing to do with this.

Nathan Horton has really been stepping it up these playoffs which should finally kill the Horton/Stafford comparisons.

Bet you're right, if Ruff couldn't figure out how to solve a forecheck, then clearly - it can't be done.

Detroit vs Sanjose today on Nbc. 3pm... I'm looking forward to seeing this game. I really like SanJose because they have put together a good team - Veteran players mixed with rookies/journeyman goalie. Detroit is playing with a chip on it's shoulder and they're actually fighting and starting scrums - something we never see them do - probably because of Bertuzzi. I like them too because they're a classy team (most of the time) and they have Mike Modano. I've always liked him. Classic American player

Hopefully Doc Emerick(sp?) and crew are on top of their game. They had to fly right from. Philly to call the SanJose game 20 or so hours later. I'm assuming they're doing this game?

And yet, still made us look like an AHL team, running around in our own zone for 40+ minutes a night.

If the Bruins can keep vacating their zone like they did tonight again Philly's forecheck, this is going to be a short series.

Also means Darcy has a lot more work to do then he might think.

Hard to believe they haven't even gotten their PP going yet.

The Philly forecheck can dominate any team on the long change in the second period by pinning defensemen on the ice. Boston included. (I think Philly had at least 20 attempted shots in the second yesterday)

Boucher was giving up the same rebounds to Boston that he was to Buffalo. The big difference is Boston has 7 guys that can play center.

I'm pretty sure 5 of those goals were off of juicy rebounds.

Without taking anything away from Horton...it is what he should look like.

Kreji has been making Horton's game come together. Kreji may be one of the most unsung players in the NHL today.

Kreji is a solid player. Playing with Kreji and playing in a city like Boston may be the best thing that could have happened to Horton.

I don't get the "city like Boston" part.

It probably is a great fit for him. He is extremely streaky though.

He was brutally bad for about half this season. And then seemed to turn a corner in the Montreal-Boston bloodbath game.

His job this series is just to pocket rebounds.

Good hockey town. As opposed to playing in a place like Miami where noone watches and fewer care.

Very exciting game yesterday Nashville vs Vancouver. Rinne made some hugh saves in OT.

He was absolutely spectacular. A breathtaking performance.

Tough way for Loungo to lose....he was damn good too. (except for losing one in his skates).

True about Loungo - in the third the Preds were coming in wave after wave and easily could have scored 3 goals if not for him.

Shame on Bieksa for not going higher and/or closer to the post, and from the look on his face, I think he knows that.

No doubt, but I dont think he anticipated Rinne getting back. And it was a shot pass, that one-timer was moving.

Dave Strader & Joe Micheletti...Darren Pang inside the glass. I don't mind Strader. I like Micheletti (wish NBC gave him the #1 analyst job instead of Olczyk). Pang was ok, but gets a little excitable at times.

I can't imagine that they could ask Doc to fly from Philly to SJ for a game the next day.

Here's something to remember when picking teams for the Stanley Cup Finals.

* means this team was the away team in the Winter Classic on January 1st of that year.

# means this team made the finals in Hossa's first year with the team.

% means this team made the finals in Pronger's first year with the team.

^ means this team made the finals in Heatley's second year with the team.

2006 Stanley Cup Finals

CAROLINA V. EDMONTON%

2007 Stanley Cup Finals

ANAHEIM% V. OTTAWA^

2008 Stanley Cup Finals

PITTSBURGH#* V. DETROIT

2009 Stanley Cup Finals

PITTSBURGH V. DETROIT#*

2010 Stanley Cup Finals

CHICAGO#* V. PHILADELPHIA%

2011 Stanley Cup Finals

??? V. ???

So here's what we see:

---The AWAY TEAM of the Winter Classic has been to the Stanley Cup each year since it's existence.

---Since the lockout, there have been two players that made the Finals at least 2 years in a row, both (Pronger in 2006-2007) and (Hossa in 2008-2009)

---Philly will not make the finals since this is not Pronger's first year with the Flyers.

---Hossa made the finals 3 years in a row. This streak is over due to Chicago being eliminated

Due to the above statements I conclude this:

---Antti Niemi and Simon Gagne are the only players on last year's two finals teams that are no longer with their 2010 team and that are still active in this year's playoffs with (San Jose and Tampa Bay.)

---We will see these trends continue, one of the above players will make the finals for a 2nd straight year, like Pronger and Hossa did.

---Due to the fact that the away team in the Winter Classic has made the finals 3 straight years, this eliminates Tampa Bay (Gagne) from making the finals, since Washington is playing them.

---Hereby I conclude that Niemi will be the player to make the finals 2 years in a row and this is Heatley's second year with SanJose

We will see the 2 trends continue.

+ means this team has Antti Niemi

I believe I am one of the most superstitious people that I know, especially when it comes to numbers, stats, and trends.

So many high sticking calls have been missed or ignored in this playoffs. Yet refs jump on the delay of game penalty like peoples lives depend on it............

Refs are tossing people out of the face offs like crazy! It's getting ridiculous. The funny thing is that I still have yet to see a team get a penalty for being tossed out of the face off too many times.

I have seen that penalty once this year and I had no idea what was going on when it happened, the announcers went into it......

And on cue, Lecavalier destroys Neuvirth. My jeans just got a little tight.

Pissed off Caps fan caught on camera flipping the bird to Vinny as he jumped into the glass after scoring the GWG.
