deluca67 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 This just shows why he's right,.. and it's wonderful. Unless I am 5,002 years old.
darksabre Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 So, how about those Canucks? Sorry but this thread is for arguing and insulting other posters, not talking about hockey. These aren't the droids you're looking for... Seriously though, Chicago refuses to go away in this game. It's fun. I think Van wins though.
darksabre Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Vancouver might be the real deal. This is the best Lou has ever looked in the playoffs.
FogBat Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Vancouver might be the real deal. This is the best Lou has ever looked in the playoffs. If Vancouver wins it all, I'm going to download a pic, send it to my MIL, and remind her that her Caps are not all that they're cracked up to be. (BTW, she only started following them when her other son in law came into the family. So full of bravo sierra.)
deluca67 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Vancouver might be the real deal. This is the best Lou has ever looked in the playoffs. The West is loaded this year. I can't wait till the Red Wings at 1PM. Is there a better run franchise in pro sports? I include the Yankees and Lakers in that question.

I include the Yankees and Lakers in that question. My vote for best franchise isn't even close, Steelers. Stable ownership, championships, 3 head coaches in their history and all have won, they never overpay for talent and they have the same success and team every year. I mean who else can make Cordell Stewart into a QB?

Weave Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Ryan stomps on Blum's foot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl641z2n07o Oh.. that NEEDS to be punished. Intent to injure if there ever was.

I include the Yankees and Lakers in that question. The East oozes parity. But there are a couple teams in the West that I just don't see anyone from the East competing with really. Vancouver and Detroit heads that list of teams the East doesn't match up well with. And Detroit has to be counted among the best run franchises. Hard to compare sport-to-sport but they should be in the conversation.
dEnnis the Menace Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 OctiFine. I understand it but it doesn't seem right. tradition is tradition Detroit fan ejected and fined for Octopus So based on their "rule" when a player scores a hat trick, all of the fans who throw their hats on the ice are subject to arrest and dismissal? :wallbash:
bunomatic Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 So based on their "rule" when a player scores a hat trick, all of the fans who throw their hats on the ice are subject to arrest and dismissal? :wallbash:  Only if you wear a cephalopod for a hat.
dEnnis the Menace Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Only if you wear a cephalopod for a hat. well I said that because the rule states: "The throwing of objects onto the ice surface is prohibited by the National Hockey League and persons caught doing so may be subject to prosecution for violating local and state laws." and then the following quoted text in the article says something along the lines of officers are to escort anyone caught throwing anything on the ice surface. I know I may be going to the extreme here, but few sports have traditions like hockey. From the octopi to the hats, to the playoff beard, to the pre-game superstitions, nothing compares IMHO. The Red Wings ice staff, and the Red Wings, and most other fans KNOW the octopi are coming after certain points. You know when the hats are gonna fly, it's not like their flying in during play. MOST hockey fans are a little more respectful than that. What it boils down to, I think that guy getting kicked out is ridiculous. end of story. And to set the record straight, I don't generally wear a cephalopod as a hat...

One of the last games of the year,it may have been the final game a fan in Vancouver threw a salmon on the ice. At some point people do get carried away and it goes too far. The absolute worst is the headjobs who throw coins on the ice. I remember seeing in a minor hockey game some idiot threw a second puck on the ice.
R_Dudley Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 So, how about those Canucks? Vancouver might be the real deal. This is the best Lou has ever looked in the playoffs. This is one series I have been watching and they do look like the team to beat. Watching the games I noticed their 40 year anniversary banner painted into the ice and remembered they came into the league with the Sabres. They look like they just might get their cup before us. I know this is blasphemy in some parts and way ahead of itself but allowed some wishful thinking I couldn't help but think how cool a SC final by the two expansion teams that came into the league together with both looking for their first cup would be. Added hype would be the two gold medal goalies rematch.

I think we were talking about this in the last thread, and I agree that it would be an awesome story to have both 40th Anniversary teams in the SC Finals. The rematch of Miller versus Luongo would be huge. I also think we would lose. :bag: But boy would that be fun! Touching on the octopus issue, I think it'd be great if an officer decides to arrest a fan for throwing a hat. Imagine the backlash. The NHL would immediately backpedal.

On the Octopi I think it could be a calculated reaction to what bunomatic pointed out. The salmon in the last game of the year was a great way to get attention to it. Do they want fans to start doing this across all the teams or worse playoff series. Imagine that first Sabre fan to throw a sword on the ice.

darksabre Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Phoenix is playing like they have already moved to Winnipeg. I'm choosing to skip this game in favor of getting some work done. Sounds like a good choice. Phoenix will not beat Detroit in this series.
