wjag Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 The pace of Montreal-Boston is frenetic.. Montreal 1-0
Eleven Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Next thing you know, you're going to tell me that chz actually works for the Sabres. She's really Jerry Korab. Sorry again, man.
BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Pretty embarrassing listening to the Sharks fans call the "Battle of Cali game." No wonder I had three friends from downstate call me and ridicule the NHL tonight.
Weave Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Burke just said that he will not rule out signing a player to an offer sheet in the off-season. Paging Mr Stafford, white courtesy phone... Hmmm, a pile of Toronto draft picks for Stafford?
carpandean Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Hmmm, a pile of Toronto draft picks for Stafford? Most likely a first, a second, and a third, unless they go really big (over roughly $5.5 million per.)
korab rules Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 She's really Jerry Korab. Sorry again, man. Wait... what?
nobody Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 She's really Jerry Korab. Sorry again, man. King Kong Chz.
rickshaw Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Because most of them aren't on the border. Buffalo & Detroit play both, I'm not aware of any other US cities playing both except when hosting a Canadian team. I doubt Vancouver plays both (except when playing a US based team) (Rickshaw could confirm) but the other Canadian teams only play the Canadian anthem before games except when they are playing US based teams. The US anthem is only played in Vancouver if the opponent is a US based team. If it's all Canada, only one anthem. I believe the Sabres are the only team that plays both no matter the opponent.
spndnchz Posted April 15, 2011 Author Report Posted April 15, 2011 King Kong Chz. Does kinda have a nice little ring to it?
carpandean Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Kaleta gets the snub. Wasn't he voted the second-most hated in a similar poll? Note: he is mentioned in the article, but is not listed in the poll itself.
X. Benedict Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Burke just said that he will not rule out signing a player to an offer sheet in the off-season. Paging Mr Stafford, white courtesy phone... If Burke signs an offer sheet with someone other than a pivot...he should be run out of Toronto.... Callahan, Dubinsky, Stamkos....?
SwampD Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 She's really Jerry Korab. Sorry again, man. I pictured her looking more like this (I wish I could photoshop some Sabres posters on the walls and maybe a logo tat).
korab rules Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I pictured her looking more like this (I wish I could photoshop some Sabres posters on the walls and maybe a logo tat).
shrader Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 If Burke signs an offer sheet with someone other than a pivot...he should be run out of Toronto.... Callahan, Dubinsky, Stamkos....? Toronto doesn't have their 1st round pick this year, so that severely limits any options they have in making an offer sheet. This is nothing more than a Burke smoke screen.

This is nothing more than a Burke smoke screen. Doesn't an offer sheet mean the following draft.....2012 draft? I think the 2011 draft is mid-jun. Free Agency starts 1 July 2011. (I think) Is that right?

(I think) Is that right? Ahhh, I've got my timeline all messed up. Anyway, their 3rd round pick next year is gone to the Kings, so that's one limit they have.

They shouldn't have too much trouble trading to get a 3rd round pick back if they need it. But I mostly think it is Burke's bluster (as you said) :) .....he is the best off-season sound bite the league has.
biodork Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I pictured her looking more like this (I wish I could photoshop some Sabres posters on the walls and maybe a logo tat). I second Korab, Must be you missed out on margarita night.

Was it him last year that went out and reacquired a pick he traded away just so he could have the threat of an offer sheet? But yeah, it's not happening. Teams know how this whole thing works now. If they want a specific RFA, they'll trade for him.

He's just figuring out a way to pick up a player for cover when he decides not to pay the ultimate 2nd to 3rd line perimeter player - Clarke MacArthur. There is no way to win with MacArthur....pay him market and you pay too much, don't pay him and the fans will riot.
Lanny Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 For conversations sake the most recent RFA compensation: $994,433 or below - No Compensation $994,434 - $1,506,717 - 2010 3rd round pick $1506,718 - $3,013,433 - 2010 2nd round pick $3,013,433 - $4,520,150 - 2010 1st round pick, 2010 3rd round pick $4,520,151 - $6,026,867 - 2010 1st round pick, 2010 2nd round pick, 2010 3rd round pick $6,026,868 - $7,533,584 - 2010 1st round pick, 2011 1st round pick, 2010 2nd round pick, 2010 3rd round pick Over $7,533,584 - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 1st round picks.

carpandean Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 A little bit of lighter news: Thrashers retire red football (third) jersey.
