The Dallas scenario reminded me of something (although its use doesn't really matter here). Do they still have that rule where if you pull your goalie in OT and lose, you get no points at all?

They do and you have a good memory. It's rule 84.2. The rule doesn't apply if the goalie is removed during a delayed penalty call.

Yes, they do.

But since a SO win is a good as a loss to the Stars, I'd expect they'd pull the goalie if they got down to the last minute or so of OT.

Wow, I did not know that. You really do learn something new everyday.

Chopping block is officially out. Florida fired DeBoer and Ottawa fired Clouston (plus two assistants.)

I mentioned the thing about Clouston in a link yesterday. I guess no one bothered to check up on it.

Oops, missed it.

4-3 Wild, now. Will Dallas have to pull the goalie to tie it, then pull him again to try to win it in OT?

My guess with 2m to go.

I bet there are a lot of bummed Vancouver fans. The road to glory just got a whole lot tougher.

Why? He's got a Cup-ready team, just with Kovy there.

Did you read the article? Lemaire wants to spend more time with his wife and grandkids. Plus, he's 66. He's no spring chicken.

XC, you missed a lot this year.

MIchelle Obama commercial on NHLN: I don't really care where you stand politically, just tell me that you agree that there hasn't been a First Lady hottie like her since Jackie.

I am not surprised to learn that we have different tastes in women. Really, Hillary over Michelle? Bar over, um, any other woman?

EDIT: Nancy over Skeletor?

I hate those arrogant Hurricane bastards. When we win a Cup, I'll be over it.

Are you referring to their fans? I've never met one. Maybe they are...

If that's is your reasoning, arrogant fans, I understand.

I hate the Yankees...because of their fans.

I hate the Steelers...because of their fans.

I hate the Patriots...because of their fans.

The Vanek contract. Edmonton cried for years about how the richer owners were throwing huge contracts around and it was unfair to smaller market teams such as the Oilers. Then what do they do? Sign Vanek for 8 mil per for what 7 years? Regier told them time again that Buffalo was going to match anything they offered (as we had just lost Drury and Briere) yet they still went ahead and overpaid in term and dollars for the Restricted Free Agent Thomas Vanek. Due to the terrible PR the Sabres were in they almost HAD to sign Vanek to the crazy deal. Thanks edmonton for crying about overpaying for players and then do it to us when Regier clearly stated we would match so it was pointless (except to screw us).

Maybe if Quinn (I believe it was Quinn who said they'd match ANY offer) hadn't been in full-fledge panic mode and actually TOLD the Oilers he would match, then maybe the offer sheet would only have been the 5 mill. a year they ended up giving to Dusin Penner from the Ducks instead?

Bottom line is, the Sabres made their own bed in that cluster######, and as long as they watch the market instead of try and setting the market, they'll always be re-acting instead of acting.

Vanek's contract is a classic example of how this FO does business. Will this change under Pegula? I hope so.
