Stormin Norman Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 I hate the Hurricanes. Hate 'em. Arrogant SOBs with stars on paper only... if that. Lots of nice golf courses in the Carolinas for their team and coaching staff. Don't wait too long to book your tee times, boys. Perhaps you can put together some foursomes with the Senators. What's that, Hurricane fans? Hurts your feelings to see Buffalo lookin' at you through the rear-view mirror? Give me a moment to dab my eyes and hold my sniffles. And it's only just and right that Cam Ward got beat by a backup goalie as the 'Canes got flushed down the toilet.
Eleven Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Honestly, does anyone really care about freaking Carolina anymore? They lucked into a bunch of injuries and played Edmonton and won. We know it, they know it but won't admit it, so who cares? Frankly, I would have rather had them in (to knock Washington out) than the Rags. That Manhattan team is freaking useless.

You don't get blown out on home ice in the biggest game of the season. Maybe the battle warn Rangers with a stellar Swede are the better option. I'd feel better about them if Chara hadn't felled Callahan.
deluca67 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Seems that all 16 playoff teams will finished the season over .500. If Chicago holds on to 8th place today then all 16 teams will have records above .500 and plus goal differentials. Dallas is the only team not holding a playoff spot that is over .500. They are however a -4 in goal differential.

deluca67 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Seems to me like the points system that everyone rails against is working just fine. Seems to be unnecessary. If you go strictly by wins nothing really changes. The seedings change a little but the same 16 teams still make the playoffs.
SwampD Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Seems to be unnecessary. If you go strictly by wins nothing really changes. The seedings change a little but the same 16 teams still make the playoffs. I think it's absolutely necessary. How else can you make teams that have no chance of making the playoffs think that they actually have a chance of making the playoffs, therefore keeping their fans interested and buying tickets late in the season?
inkman Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Honestly, does anyone really care about freaking Carolina anymore? Ive been trying to wrap my head around thus for a while now. I probably hated them for about a week or two, WHILE the playoffs were taking place. I think it's misplaced frustration . People should probably be more mad at Jay McKee for not washing his shin pads. The other day I heard Schopp & Bulldog calling the TB lightning a joke to them because they are still an expansion team in their eyes. I must be opposite brained from them because these things just make no sense to me.

I must be opposite brained from them because these things just make no sense to me. I have a healthy despise of them. I don't begrudge their win. To say they didn't earn it is pure folly. Of course they earned it. If the situation was reversed, you wouldn't find a single detractor on here saying Buffalo didn't deserve it. Carolina was a solid team that year. I still don't like them though. I root for them to lose. It's the irrational part of being a fan. I dislike them just the way I dislike Miami, NYG, Redskins, Cowboys, Flyers and Stars. As much as the analyst in me said they would be a better first round draw for the Caps than the Rangers, the irrational fan in me was pretty pleased to see them lose out on the playoffs in front of their fans for the second time in a week. As to the Lightning, if they would just accept that Smith is their goal tender over Roloson, they might actually advance in the playoffs. They sure showed me something last night. That was clearly a statement game.
inkman Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 I understand not liking them but to hold them to a higher level of hatred than the bruins, flyers, sens, leafs and canadiens is weird to me. Guess I'm just different than most. Maybe I was breast fed too long...
thesportsbuff Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Just heard from my friend who's been at basic training for the marines for about three months now -- he's a Canes fan (from north carolina), so I told him I missed him more than the Canes missed the playoffs. That felt good.

There are more recent protagonists that get the focus of my emotions.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 We hate because we live here and get the snide remarks all the time. Fruck u canes enjoy the golf
carpandean Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 So, given the new system, if the Blackhawks lose in regulation and the Stars are nearing the end of OT, will we see them pull their goaltender? I haven't checked, but with a 2-point lead and 1 more ROW, but not having clinched, I assume that Chicago was behind in the season series with Dallas (or maybe they were tied and the 38 difference in goal differential could, in theory, be overcome.)

I will just hate that franchise and city until the day I die.

chileanseabass Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 How does Paul Maurice keep his job after a performance like that? He shouldn't. I wouldn't be shocked if Kevin Dineen took over or was at least assistant to Ron Francis.
Derrico Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Really, Edmonton? Why? The Vanek contract. Edmonton cried for years about how the richer owners were throwing huge contracts around and it was unfair to smaller market teams such as the Oilers. Then what do they do? Sign Vanek for 8 mil per for what 7 years? Regier told them time again that Buffalo was going to match anything they offered (as we had just lost Drury and Briere) yet they still went ahead and overpaid in term and dollars for the Restricted Free Agent Thomas Vanek. Due to the terrible PR the Sabres were in they almost HAD to sign Vanek to the crazy deal. Thanks edmonton for crying about overpaying for players and then do it to us when Regier clearly stated we would match so it was pointless (except to screw us).

eball Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Dee-twah just scored twice in about a minute or so, and the defending champs are down 2-1 with 8:00 to go in the 2nd.

The signed a RFA to an offer sheet. Why don't you get upset with Vanek for wanting to leave the Sabres and signing with another team? Many here want us to do the same with Stamkos. Would you be ok with that?

I've always thought that was a weak move. But in particular importance was Edmontons strong position on how upset they were regarding these enormous contracts. I'm really just too lazy to look it up but they were crying for years about long term high end contracts and then they pull that move. It wasn't the Rags or Leafs or some other big market, its the friggen Oilers.
