X. Benedict Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 NY 5- Rangers 2 Now, Carolina has to hold serve.
Eleven Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 The Sabres couldn't play either the Canes or the Rags in the 2nd round, so we're talking conference finals if at all. So, I'm going for the Canes so they have a shot at the first round upset. The scenario I'd like the most is Sabres, Habs, Canes beat the division winners (just like last year) and Sabres-Habs in round 2. Who's with me? Replace "Canes" with "Rags" and I'm with you because I would rather not see the Sabres face the toilet swirls in round 3.
spndnchz Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 NY 5- Rangers 2 Now, Carolina has to hold serve. A bit fuzzy. Canes are in right? Tonight's game has no impact.
spndnchz Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 A bit fuzzy. Canes are in right? Tonight's game has no impact. Never mind. Canes with game in hand, Rangers with more wins, the Canes win they're in (or go to OT). Need one point. Geez, who to cheer. I'm betting against Canes.

I'm betting against Canes. No--Canes must win and must do so in regulation or in overtime; a shootout win doesn't work for them (according to the Rangers broadcasters).
Buffalo Wings Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Never mind. Canes with game in hand, Rangers with more wins, the Canes win they're in (or go to OT). Need one point. Geez, who to cheer. I'm betting against Canes. Carolina needs a win in OT or regulation - 1 point does them no good. If they win in a shootout, what happens then? They'd still be tied in the ROW with the Rangers.
Dude Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 No--Canes must win and must do so in regulation or in overtime; a shootout win doesn't work for them (according to the Rangers broadcasters). If the Canes win in a SO, then both teams have 35 ROW. So that means the Rangers hold the season series lead?

Having carolina eliminated would be awesome!

This happens all the time in blowout games.

LGR4GM Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Really? What if Carolina is up 3 with 50 seconds left? This happens all the time in blowout games. <_< Could happen sure. but i dont see a blowout in this one.
wjag Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 If Carolina dies tonight, it would be their second playoff death this week. They were dead and buried when Buffalo beat them. Then the Rangers gave them knew life.
spndnchz Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 No its Carolina with a 2-1-1 record against the rags. Is that the second tiebreaker? I guess the overtime win would do it?
Dude Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 No its Carolina with a 2-1-1 record against the rags. Is that the second tiebreaker? Yes, it's more points, then more ROW, then winner of head-to-head. After that, probably division record. So if that's the record, Carolina wins period and they're in.
X. Benedict Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 No its Carolina with a 2-1-1 record against the rags. Is that the second tiebreaker? I thought I heard that Carolina holds all tiebreakers. They would be tied in regulation wins in a shootout scenario. But Carolina has a 2 point advantage in the head to head series. Rangers need a Tampa Win.

wjag Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 The playoffs are going to have some difficult teams in the 7,8 spots. Carolina (presumably), Buffalo, Chicago and Anaheim. Top seeds beware.
james duncan Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Drury scoring a clutch goal. Where have I seen that before? First game back. First shift.
Eleven Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 No its Carolina with a 2-1-1 record against the rags. Is that the second tiebreaker? This would not be the first time that announcers are wrong. Yes, that's the next tiebreaker.

JujuFish Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I pay little attention to the West. I noticed something rather astonishing as I was looking at the difference in standings between now and Jan 1. Since being 25-18-6 on January 24th, Colorado has gone 4-26-2. Wow. That's 4 wins in 32 games and 3 of those 4 wins came in the shootout. What happened to Colorado?
FogBat Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Bryan Murray re-upped for 3 years in Ottawa. I'm surprised... Yeah, but this should come as no surprise.
