Toronto would need to win the rest of their games without a shootout.

Buffalo would need to lose out in regulation.

Which would tie the teams in non-shootout wins.

And Toronto would edge Buffalo in the season series by a point.

I think..

Did not both teams win 3 each in regulation.

How bout Buffalo wins tomorrow combined with a Carolina loss and we're in. Cool?

Enroth will make it so. 24 hours from now we can either be concerned or not but right now I just think it sucks that the nyr won and hope we come out strong tomorrow. Lets go BUFFALO!

Huh?

My bad - I'm looking at shoot outs. Those won't come into play this year.

:bag:

Isn't it, then, the team with more regular (non-OT) wins gets the edge?

Can't take the foot off the gas. Tampa has won 5 in a row.

Statistically speaking, they're due for a loss.

Heres my thought, Tampa has some gaping defense issues that its about time a player like Vanek exploited these. We have some young workhorse defensemen. IF we outwork Tampa we can neutralize stamkos and lacavalier and st louis. Hard work is the key to this one. We have come almost full circle. I think I almost know what this team is made of. Another test to help confirm this teams heart. Lets go Buffalo.

There's a playoff clinching thread that has more detail. The Leafs would win a tie because they picked up more points head to head since they had a SO loss. One Sabre point, or one Leafs loss, would ensure the Sabres finish ahead of them.

The Sabres are in with one win and either an additional Sabres point or one Canes loss (even in OT).

gettin' started early this year, eh? don't break your ankles jumping off the bandwagon.

Now, now. I meant that as an illustration of how cruel things can get for fans of Buffalo sports. After seeing Enroth the last few games, I'm actually not too worried.

Wow, an epic collapse by the Bruins.

Just giving their fans a ECF playoff rewind. ;)

They say the 2 goal lead is the worst lead in hockey. I think there's a few Chowderheads that would dispute that claim.

And they're playing for home ice against Pitt in the 4/5 matchup.

They're still playing for a division title, too.

That's pretty much on life support, though not impossible. Tampa & Washington each have 3 games left and the Caps are up by 4 points. I think TB has to win out while Washington loses out. The Caps have Toronto tonight. Tampa's biggest motivator would be home ice vs Pittsburgh.

Bottom line - despite the Bruins' collapse, the Sabres are still ahead of Carolina by the same margin they were after Sunday. The Sabres needed to win tonight, anyway. A win and a Carolina regulation loss puts Buffalo in. That's the most important thing right now.

Bonus - a win and a Montreal regulation loss to a desperate Chicago team puts Buffalo in 6th.

Some enormous games tonight that can shuffle the seedings.

TB vs Buf

Was vs Tor

Phl vs Ott

Chi vs Mon

Five of the eight seeds in action and a potential change in seeding at risk.

Callahan broke his ankle last night...

Holy smokes. That's a huge loss. He plays with the heart of a lion.

I'm betting it was on Chara's shot. Chara unleashed a cannon blast last night and Callahan caught it.

Torts has been playing a high-stakes game committing the entire team to shot-blocking.

Note: Duh...I didn't finish reading it. It was Chara's shot.

Chara is a disgusting animal. He knows he has a weapon in his shot and he aimed at Callahan's ankle. The NHL should suspend him for life.

The first shot hurt the goalie IIRC then, yup, blasted it again. Stafford for Chara straight up? lol
