wjag Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Vancouver won the Presidents' Trophy last night. They have a very solid season going. Doesn't appear to be any let up in their game.
spndnchz Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 Vancouver won the Presidents' Trophy last night. I think I saw they are tops in GF, PP, and PK.
spndnchz Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 Kotalik gone again. http://communities.canada.com/calgaryherald/blogs/insideflames/archive/2011/03/31/ales-kotalik-banished-to-the-minors.aspx
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Best fight I have seen in a while. Darcy Regier watching Lucic play is like Liberace at a Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest. I doubt it moves for either of them.
X. Benedict Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Darcy Regier watching Lucic play is like Liberace at a Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest. I doubt it moves for either of them. although I have no idea what this means.......I think what most GM's might have noticed is that the Bruins have a lot of trouble with speed. Lucic squaring up against Rosehill is stupid IMO. Really, really, really, really, stupid of Lucic. (albiet entertaining)
rickshaw Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I think I saw they are tops in GF, PP, and PK. You can add GA #1 as well.
X. Benedict Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Darcy Regier watching Lucic play is like Liberace at a Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest. I doubt it moves for either of them. Oh, I get it. :D
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Oh, I get it. :D I figured that would get me less heat than saying I'd trade the next 4 years drafts for him.
SwampD Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I figured that would get me less heat than saying I'd trade the next 4 years drafts for him. Absolutely! You know the perspective talent is way move valuable to around here than proven talent.
wjag Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I think I saw they are tops in GF, PP, and PK. They held LAK without a shot on goal in the third period last night. First time it has happened all season. How does a team hold another team without a single SOG in a period?
wjag Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Guess who is ref-fing his last game tomorrow in the Buf vs Cap game?
wonderbread Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Guess who is ref-fing his last game tomorrow in the Buf vs Cap game? Congrats to him. Side note reading the bitter leaf fans posts at the bottom of the article made me chuckle.
will Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Vancouver won the Presidents' Trophy last night. this guy for real? not for nothing, but i don't see each given opponent spilling their blood and guts (figuratively) every contest of the regular season like they do in every single playoff tilt. the 'nuks are simply a team loaded with talent, and regular season match-ups are just easier for them to win night after night. the stanley cup playoffs are a war of attrition, and each team leaves it all out on the ice...unlike the regular season. that's my take, and this writer is guano insane. edit: here's the closing paragraph in case you don't want to read the whole pile of garbage... "Yeah, winning the Stanley Cup is a pretty cool accomplishment, and one that should obviously be celebrated to some extent. But to also denigrate beating the hell out of everyone you play for 82 games? That's just stupid. Because winning the Presidents' Trophy is a more impressive achievement."

I am somewhat in agreement with him. I do not think the Presidents' Trophy is a more impressive achievement, but I do think it deserves more recognition than it gets. But I spent last year fighting that battle and won't do it again.

Agreed; it gets Rodney Dangerfielded (no respect) and deserves more attention, but it's definitely not more important. To me, here's the test: I might be able to guess most of the Presidents' Trophy winners since the lockout, but I know that I can name all of the Cup winners (and who they beat in the finals, and in how many games, and ...) So, subconsciously, I consider the Cup more important.
Stoner Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Did the Sabres slap that apostrophe on the banner yet? Or better yet, the asterisk?
Eleven Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Did the Sabres slap that apostrophe on the banner yet? Or better yet, the asterisk? They will have a new banner next year if the goal is to remove every last slug from the Arena, and what asterisk? This isn't Dallas.
thesportsbuff Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 They will have a new banner next year if the goal is to remove every last slug from the Arena, and what asterisk? This isn't Dallas. I don't think they would/should change the banner. But that should be the ONLY slug in the arena.
Stoner Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 They will have a new banner next year if the goal is to remove every last slug from the Arena, and what asterisk? This isn't Dallas. If I have to explain, probably no point in having the discussion.
Eleven Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 If I have to explain, probably no point in having the discussion. Probably not, because the team won it and won it legitimately under the rules in effect at the time. Let's just enjoy something once in a while, ok?
