Derrico Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Even more scary is that PIT continues to roll. They have a chance to be the first seed. Of all the teams I'd hate to see in the first round, it's clearly PIT. Now Crosby is coming back. What the Penguins have done is nothing short of astonishing. Damn, did not hear this. Great for the league but bad for the Sabres. When is he suppose to return, any idea?

Samson's Flow Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 TV's blog is starting to reflect his leadership and star player role more and more as the entries continue. Good stuff!

X. Benedict Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 His Anglish is improving. I don't think going to high school in South Dakota hurt his English as much as some people claim. :D
Stoner Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 His Anglish is improving. It's better than that of half the people in this country.
wjag Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 It's better than that of half the people in this country. True dat. It's always the small words that throw foreigners: "a", "an", "the", that get forgotten or misused/misplaced.
X. Benedict Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 It's better than that of half the people in this country. While this may be true, they probably haven't mastered Vanek's "snort breathing technique" on display in every interview. Hereby referred to as the SBT. The SBT can make any NHL forward sound sincere if used at 10 second intervals.
FogBat Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Too bad the players can't vote on it. I mean, it's their game and they seem to have little input as to the rules. Good point. After all, IIRC, there's supposed to be a rules committee where the players have some kind of input.
wjag Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Johnson Bertuzzi-ed So another day and another deliberate head shot. Bertuzzi gets tossed for head hunting Johnson. Will he be fined? Will he be suspended? This is Hockey Town afterall....
BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 There's been a general consensus about how the instigator rule has hurt the league as a whole. Too bad the fans can't vote on it. Too bad the players can't vote on it. I mean, it's their game and they seem to have little input as to the rules. Interesting that in the Player Poll performed by the CBC and NHLPA earlier this year 66% of players asked were against abolishing the instigator rule.http://www.cbc.ca/sp...e-be-abolished/ Good interview with Darcy in WGR discussing Matt Cooke and Head shots in general: starts around the 9:17 min tag I really think that the dirty hits we see around the league have to do with some players showing no respect for each other and the game. Maybe if more players were willing to pull a Evander Kane on Cooke, that piece of garbage wouldn't pull the crap that he does: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLqpw_uKyds

The answer is to suspend these guys for large stretches of the season.
Eleven Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Interesting that in the Player Poll performed by the CBC and NHLPA earlier this year 66% of players asked were against abolishing the instigator rule.http://www.cbc.ca/sp...e-be-abolished/ Wow. 318 players responded, too. Well, so much for that, then.
carpandean Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Johnson Bertuzzi-ed So another day and another deliberate head shot. Bertuzzi gets tossed for head hunting Johnson. Will he be fined? Will he be suspended? This is Hockey Town afterall.... Wait, does Bertuzzi have any history of violence? :death:
X. Benedict Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 First look at Bertruzzi play....more of a stupid play than a malicious one. IMO. 5 minutes looks right. Ryan Johnson is just not the guy anybody hits to send a message. Especially skating in backward. I don't think this is a suspension.
bunomatic Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 First look at Bertruzzi play....more of a stupid play than a malicious one. IMO. 5 minutes looks right. Although Bert was a bit careless in how he went in I'm not sure it warrants a suspension. But then again I'm not sure how this shakes out with the league because iI think they're still in a feeling out process as well.
thesportsbuff Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 that's gotta be at least 3 games. can't wait to see how bad the league ###### this one up
billsrcursed Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Looks like a mis-timed hip check, maybe because Johnson saw him coming and slowed up. I don't think it was intentional, but I don't know if the NHL is going to care, frankly.
wjag Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Hawks-Wings was a fantastic game. Hawks will be a dangerous low seed.
FogBat Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 that's gotta be at least 3 games. can't wait to see how bad the league ###### this one up From the angle of it, it looks like his triceps got Johnson in the chops, not his elbow. Even so, it looks like Bertuzzi might be getting a "Colin"-oscopy.
shrader Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 From the angle of it, it looks like his triceps got Johnson in the chops, not his elbow. Even so, it looks like Bertuzzi might be getting a "Colin"-oscopy. Yeah, I'm not so sure that one even qualifies as an elbow. Then it's a face to face hit, so it doesn't fall under the blindside stuff. I'm all for punishing a hit like that to the head, but with the way the NHL rules are written, I don't know how they suspend on this one.
will Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 that was an awesome hit, imo. didn't look like an intentional elbow, and certainly not suspension worthy. but in this "new age" of lower tolerance, i won't be surprised if he gets one.
