Eleven Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 4-0. I should have written: I really want the Sabres to face Filly's "goaltending" in the first round. Sh*tty goalie #1 out, sh*tty goalie #2 coming in.
nucci Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Avery just kicked one in and didn't get away with it. Does that guy even try to do things legitimately? He did kick it but I thought he was being pulled down at the time. 4-0 and looks like Flyers will have goaltending questions again going in to playoffs.
X. Benedict Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Callahan with his 4th. 5-0 Flyers. I love Callahan's game. Great all around player. I'm betting the Rangers saw how the Sabres took apart the L-wing lock yesterday. Torts really had his defense skate today.
deluca67 Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Devils with another W. They now have 30 wins which is one less than the Sabres. Kovi with a goal and an assist. If the Devils make it all the way back is there another player that would deserve to be MVP more than Kovi?

deluca67 Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Did you watch the game? Didn't have a chance to. Still moving some of the smaller stuff. Did see he had two points and and a shootout goal was a +1 and the first star. Did you have a chance to watch it?

I recommend only watching the third period and overtimes. I think it is too late for them, but with their brand of hockey you have to work hard to beat them. They don't give up 5x5 goals but they don't get them either.
repster Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 The Devils might not be pretty but it's incredible what they are accomplishing. If they can win their next 5 games in a row which is entirely possible based on playing Ottawa twice, Florida twice and NYI again, they are right there in the mix. On top of that, they still play us once more. I am definitely keeping my eye on these guys.

The Sabres are lucky they only play them once. Anton Volchenkov is another blue-liner that has contributed to this incredible run. Another player that I wished the Sabres made a run at. For what he brings to the ice @ $4.25 he is a huge bargain.

X. Benedict Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Sabres can have the 8th seed and then NJ can have the 7th seed so they can take out Boston. They would have to go 14-4 to get to 90 points. Possible, but quite unlikely.
nobody Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 They would have to go 14-4 to get to 90 points. Possible, but quite unlikely. They've gone something like 14-2 since February. So that means they can slack off a little.
Iron Crotch Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Iginla just scored his 30th against Nashville. That makes him only the 10th guy to score 30 or more in 10 straight years. Pretty impressive accomplishment. (BTW - Jagr & Mike Gartner are tied for the most consecutive 30 goal season with 15 each)

Justify your opinion however you want; it still was a stupid contract, and one that any normal Sabres fan will be grateful that the team is not saddled with. He won't be MVP. The team probably won't make the playoffs. He is to NJ what Jagr was to DC. With Pegula, I'll take a Boyes and two similar players for the price that NJ foolishly paid for Kovy. Sabres can have the 8th seed and then NJ can have the 7th seed so they can take out Boston. Fine by me, as long as the Sabres get Filly in the first round. (BTW - Jagr & Mike Gartner are tied for the most consecutive 30 goal season with 15 each) Iginla really is a one-man team. I feel bad for the guy sometimes; his run to the Finals was early in his career and I don't know that he'll get another chance.

What, you don't think he's worth the eleventy billion dollars he's making this year? That's crazy talk. All this devils hype here is pretty funny. They'll get as high as the 10th seed tops, but by all means, continue to praise them as the second coming.

The dean told them if they turn it in again, they can pull their grade up to gentlemen's C-.

Two or less Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Tim Kennedy put on re-entry waivers. Nobody will claim him because he is ineligible to play in the playoffs if a team does claim him.

Is he also what Vanek is to the Sabres? He is less of a cap hit and his salary for the next two seasons is less than Vanek's? Live in your Regierian shell if you need to. Right now the Devils are the hottest team in hockey. With a super-soft part of their schedule coming up people are going to hear a lot more about the Devils and the leagues MVP Ilya Kovalchuk.

Hmmmmm....Kovulchuk or Daniel Sedin? Or hows this....Brad Boyes 3 less points than Kovy, so he's gotta be in the discussion too.
carpandean Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Is he also what Vanek is to the Sabres? He is less of a cap hit and his salary for the next two seasons is less than Vanek's? I said at the time that I would have been fine with signing Kovy if Vanek were traded (or, at least, Pommer.) I just didn't want that many big contracts given to wingers. If there were a chance to pick up a top center (or two) and they had to pass because of having big contracts for Kovy, Vanek, Pommer, Myers (after next season), and Miller (likely $30 million combined), that would be unfortunate.
