Bmwolf21 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Brett Favre Peter Forsberg making a comeback? http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-avalanche-forsberg I for one am excited about possibly seeing Forsberg back with Colorado. He was my favorite player in the entire league for a long time, until he went to Philly. Him leaving Colorado for Philly and Drury going to the Rangers rank 1 and 2 (in no particular order) in terms of player moves that really pissed me off. Forsberg for going to Philly, and Drury for going anywhere else. The Brett Favre comparison is no a fair parallel, though. Forsberg has missed a lot of time due to battling injuries, but he never really played the "lost the fire to do this, not sure I want to play anymore" crap the Drama Queen #4 constantly played. Good! Maybe they'll start making his curve again. Haven't found one I've liked as much since he left. Zetterberg's close (it's probably exactly the same), but just doesn't feel right. I always used the Forsberg curve too. Didn't think of that angle to his comeback story, tho.
shrader Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Apologies if it's been posted already over the weekend. We officially have an Ottawa fire sale.
Weave Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Apologies if it's been posted already over the weekend. We officially have an Ottawa fire sale. I am jealous. What I wouldn't give to hear the same sort of statement from Sabres' leadership. It sounds so...... honest. Owner Eugene Melnyk broke his silence on his team’s season from hell on Saturday when he told the Ottawa Sun that, “The time has come to make some of the most difficult decisions that any owner can make.” I think this quote is important and speaks to the mindeset needed to have a successful rebuilding; The new general manager – tentative interviews have already taken place, with deeper interviews to come – would be in place for the June entry draft. At the moment, the presumption is that the team will finish low enough to qualify for the lottery that determines the first five picks. A top pick is considered a priority for the rebuilding process. Top talent is scarce and the best way to get it is to land a very high draft choice. Ottawa realizes this and is going after a lottery pick. Again, I am jealous. So, our biggest rival is now competing against Buffalo for a new GM and who's rebuild will bbe most successful. I can't help but think they are doing it the right way while we are still under some illusion that we can salvage the season. I wouldn't be suprised if their rebuild takes off better than ours.

They don't have to go after a lottery pick. They've already got one locked up. Last I checked they were 4th from the bottom, so there's their top pick.
X. Benedict Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Brett Favre Peter Forsberg making a comeback? http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-avalanche-forsberg Wow. He had the potential to be the best forward of his era.....the feet wouldn't let him. I wish him luck.
bunomatic Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Wow. He had the potential to be the best forward of his era.....the feet wouldn't let him. I wish him luck. I have to say that I hope his comeback attempt fails. Great players shouldn't hang on past their best before date. Never liked him, never will.
korab rules Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Savard concussed again - out indefinitely. Who was it again who wanted to pick him up this summer?

Never liked him, never will. I don't know many players that could completely take over a game when it mattered like he could. I always thought he left it all out there as much as he was physically able.

The reason I never liked him was he was always a threat and more often than not would kill us. That being said, his time is done.

JoDo Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Ottawa has an Ennis doppelganger in its farm system: Wow, he even wears a Sabres' jersey.
JoDo Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 LOL - I have the funniest picture of Pyatt. My friend (who is a fan of low-cut shirts) and I went up to a game on New Year's Day 2006 because they did an autograph session afterwards, and this was taken when she walked up to his table. Dang, I was trying to enlarge that picture to see the image in the glass behind Pyatt. No luck, I guess we'll have to take your word for it.
korab rules Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Wow, he even wears a Sabres' jersey. Yeah, the actual Condra doesn't look much like him. My guess is one of the Ottawa media guys has a crush on our little Ennis. Link..
carpandean Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Yeah, the actual Condra doesn't look much like him. My guess is one of the Ottawa media guys has a crush on our little Ennis. Link.. I was watching the Amerks-Baby Sens game on Time Warner Cable Sports channel in Rochester, so I'm not sure if it was an Ottawa media mistake or a Rochester one. Needless to say, I said "what the f---?" and quickly hit rewind.
carpandean Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 WTF, why is the Devils-Detroit game blacked out on Versus? It says that it can't broadcast the game in my market. Do they really consider Rochester to be part of NJ or Detroit's local markets? Instead, we get the 2008 All-Star game. Those aren't even fun to watch live, much less three years later. It was fun to see Hossa and Kovalchuk announced as "from your Atlanta Thrashers!" Of course, we only had Soupy.
X. Benedict Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I don't know if this has been talked about.... Doink.

repster Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 By the time the Sabres play again, they could be 10 points out of a playoff spot, and even 9 points out of 9th in the conference. They would have lots of games in hand of course, but it's an uphill battle when you actually have to make up the points. Thanks a lot tonight Washington and Islanders.
carpandean Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 It's on MSG Ha! That just makes too much sense.

Last week I think it was Caps-Canes and I got the same error message - in the Cleveland market. When DirecTV's program search tried to find the game it couldn't find it on any channels on my system, so I think once in a while it's a problem between DirecTV and the network. (Similar thing happened in the past with ESPN and college football games.)
Two or less Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I don't know if this has been talked about.... Doink. Cody McCormick, and others on that play - http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=351090
