wjag Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Watching the first game in a while.. Or what seems like a while.. The longer this goes on, the less interest I seem to have. Is it football season yet?
OverPowerYou Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Watching the first game in a while.. Or what seems like a while.. The longer this goes on, the less interest I seem to have. Is it football season yet? True... Why is it that the 1st round seems to be more exciting than the 2nd & 3rd? The Finals are usually good though, unless New Jersey or Detroit are in it.
LGR4GM Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Vancouver wins and moves on to the finals!!! Nashville what and effort if they can stay together in the offseason they will be scary next year! We are almost down to it! Will it be SJ or Detroit?

Nashville what and effort if they can stay together in the offseason they will be scary next year! We are almost down to it! Will it be SJ or Detroit? Gotta be SJ. The odds of Detroit pulling this comeback off are still very slim even though we saw Philly do it last year. If Detroit wins tomorrow though...
X. Benedict Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 I think SJ.....especially after Roenick called Marleau gutless.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 The Canucks haven't been playing very well for the #1 ranked team. They almost let Chicago come back on them and now they can't close it out against Nashville. If they make it to the conference finals, don't expect them to win. You're absolutely right, but idk if it's quite as bad as it looks. Granted, since you posted this it may be easier to say, given that they have now closed out their series with nashville, but the West was so close this year, i'm not sure the number one seed going to game 7 against the wests 8 seed could be considered embarrassing once you take a look at the details. Luongo has been inconsistent at best, but the team as a whole appears to be getting their legs underneath them as time goes on, and they're healthy which is huge. The finals in both conferences will be interesting to say the least, and while the canucks have looked shakey, if they lose it'll be in game 7. They won the presidents trophy in a hotly contested conference for a reason.
rickshaw Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Ryan Kesler = Conn Smythe winner. Clearly he's the best player in the NHL right now. For you people that haven't seen him play these past few games, it's been amazing to watch. Pucks in the face, in on 11 of 14 goals in the series, faceoff % high, pk, pp, you name it. The guy is sick.

We are almost down to it! Will it be SJ or Detroit? I picked SJ to win this series and I'm sticking w/ it. But if Detroit scores 1st in this game 6, I can definitely see a Thornton led team turtling. SJ looked lost in game 5 after Detroit scored their 2nd goal. If Thornton's crew DO blow this series, I am placing money on their 2nd round opponent next year.

spndnchz Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 Ryane Clowe did not make the trip to Detroit. Will not play tonight.
spndnchz Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 Probably from Kronwall hit http://video.sharks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20102011,3,245&event=S.J557

If he can continue through the next 2 rounds and hoist the cup he should be in the talk but until then... Invisible in the Chicago series??? Are you kidding me? He may not have scored but that was because he was busy keeping Toews off the scoresheet the whole series (until the last minute of game 7) Toews was -4 in the series, had one goal and 3 assists (all points in losses except for one assist in a game 4 win) Kes was +4 against the Hawks. Was 50% on faceoffs. He had 4 assists in the series, 3 of them in wins. All while killing penalties, shutting down Toews and the Hawks big line. I wouldn't say he did nothing against Chicago. It's not about the goals. He played like a man possessed in game 7 against them and his level has risen from then, incredibly.

But I think the surprise in Vancouver is Bieksa. Maybe just because I didn't know his game well, but he's been solid. Was he always this good?

If you can guarantee he'll hoist the cup in a few weeks then by all means give him the conn smythe right now. He's been playing like a man possessed which should be expected considering the player he is but I've always believed in waiting till the cup has been claimed before you give out the hardware.
SwampD Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Watching the SJ/Detroit game. It'll be a shame when either one of these teams is out of the playoffs after this series is over, because this is some great hockey.

SwampD Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Great game. I love game sevens. Especially when the Sabres are no part of them. It had no bearing on the game, but did anyone else have a problem with the ref's explanation why it wasn't a too many men on the ice call on the open net goal? He said that the player was off the ice before the other player touched the puck. Since when is that the rule?

It'll be a shame when either one of these teams is out of the playoffs after this series is over, because this is some great hockey. First game I caught in a few days, but damn it was a good one! That place was going nuts after the first Detroit goal. Edit: ...and for the rest of the game!

He said that the player was off the ice before the other player touched the puck. Since when is that the rule? Yeah, that interpretation is weird. The rule is that if a player becomes involved in play before the other player is off the ice, then it's a penalty. Helm definitely makes contact with the Sharks player, then gains possession of the puck. It should have been a penalty.
X. Benedict Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Mike Richards isn't withdrawn. He fights for troof. http://twitter.com/#!/MRichie18/statuses/68002909417250816

Maybe just because I didn't know his game well, but he's been solid. Was he always this good? 2 years ago he was good. last year not so good. this year good again. he's a tough guy, needs to fight once in awhile and seems to play better when he does. he's matured a lot this year.
darksabre Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Look like the Yotes are staying in Phoenix for another year and 25 million taxpayer dollars. I'm actually happy for Phoenix. I know a fair number of hockey fans who were thankful the Coyotes were there upon being transplanted out of the NE.

That would be too funny.
