I really don't like how they scheduled these games. The first round was pretty consistent, with a game every other day in each series...occasionally, you'd see two days off.

But now that were down to 4 series, the NHL is doing a weird job of staggering these games. I understand there may be conflicts with arenas, etc., but I don't like how there are 3 games tonight and 1 tomorrow.

This is a trick question. What if neither of them ever win the Stanley Cup? Also, what happens if they win the Stanley Cup and they're on the same team? Does it then become a matter of who touches the cup first?

Who was on the team first?

Depends. Which one gets traded first?

funny and likely true---altho i have high pegula hopes and believe there has been a major shift in buffalokarma

I love watching Philly and Washington self destruct. :clapping:

I'm still in shock by Washington. I could've half-expected Philly to get swept, but not the Caps. I guess Tampa's better than we thought.

I'm watching the Washington-TampaBay game and I'm watching CSN which I believe is the Cap's TV network that shows their games. Joe Beninati is alright and the color commentator is just the whiniest POS i've seen. He complains about everything that TampaBay does and thinks it should be a penalty. It's hard to watch as an un-biased hockey fan.

So, if the Flyers win game 4, will Bruins fans start having nightmares of history repeating itself?

I would be. Considering it had been over 3 decades, a series victory with that kind of lead was almost certain before last year. With that blown and with playing the same team, you gotta think there's a significant level of neuroticism in Beantown. Wonder if their were any fans wishing for 2-1 vs. 3-0 just to avoid the chance.

Is it me or does Boudreau have a tendency to throw his players under the bus in his post-game comments? Last game he blamed a defenseman for making a lousy play on a clearing attempt. This evening he was going on about how his best players weren't producing enough (read: Ovie, Semin, etc.)...

Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but I get the sense that the players might not like his comments much.

And in other news, game 3 - SanJose vs. Detroit goes to overtime.

I think this might be the 1st overtime of the playoffs. We don't see very many playoff games decided in the extra minutes and we definitely haven't seen any thrilling finishes this year. (Caution Sarcasm included)

Didn't hear the post game press conference, so I don't know exactly what was said, but either way, I don't think they'll have to worry about what he's saying for too much longer.

McPhee might have a job for life in Leonsisland, but I doubt that Boudreau does as well. 2 years w/ arguably the best team in the East and 0 W's in the 2nd round doesn't evoke the phrase "job security."

He needs to have a talk with Lindy. ;)

In other news - I swear I would have never called the Boston/Flyers series in a million years. It looked like the Bs barely made it past the Habs, and Philly looked like the stronger team going in. I know they're hoping for a repeat of last year in Philly, but it doesn't look good.

Boston won't make the same mistakes again.

Also, Laviolette's goaltender roulette worked last year.

He tried it again, but this time only ended up completely shattering whatever confidence his goalies had.

I don't see Philly's goaltending being good enough to win 4 straight again.

I see both the Bruins and Habs as a much better matchup against Philly - Both teams can skate, and clear the zone effectively, unlike Buffalo who can't pass to save their lives, and don't have enough speed to skate it out.

Lindy's Alamo crap was just what the Flyers wanted.

I don't like Boudreau. He's always whining about something..... He probably needed to take his team to task MORE during the regular season when they stray from his system.

I don't think the Sabres would have handled the Caps. Our team was banged up and just did not have the puck possession or forecheck going.

Give Tampa a lot of credit. They had some injuries in game 1 and still fought through it and never used it as an excuse. They are the team this year that is getting that goal at the critical time in the games to put their team in a lead or tie up a close game. They have the magic right now.

Last night was awful. Tampa and Washington in a handshake game, and no network...

Boudreau coddles his stars. To win a Stanley Cup your forwards have to buy in to the defensive commitment. (For all the talk of their commitment...none of them made it). The last two games the only Cap forward I saw block a shot was Mike Knuble.

Agreed - hence my comment. If the NHL was smart, they would have swapped Bos-Phil onto the NHL Network (I assume TSN or someone was covering it, too).

However, I imagine it had to do with the markets and that they already had Doc Emrick & Ed Olczyk in Boston.

I know the Sabres could have taken Washington. I just know it. Dammit.

Yup. Looks like the Sabres would have had a shot at NY, Washington, Montreal, maybe Pittsburgh, and maybe TB, in our conference. I thought a Boston match up would have been good before this second round, after watching some of the Habs/Bruins games, but I think now they would have smacked the Sabres down harder than Philly did.
