Thanks for the heads up. I had been considering a switch to DISH to save some money -- and free HD if I decided to upgrade from the 56 Sylvania.

NNYSABRESMAN Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Is this something that was just annonced today or yesterday, because I was able to watch the ottawa game the other night from an MSG broadcast of an TSN feed.

lafuchs Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Does this have any affect on the Center Ice Package. I live in the Midwest and have Dish Network, and I get the Center Ice Package just to watch Sabres games.
wallybarthman Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 Does this have any affect on the Center Ice Package. I live in the Midwest and have Dish Network, and I get the Center Ice Package just to watch Sabres games. That's a good question. The answer is that it shouldn't have any effect on it at all - the other answer is that it might. DISH Network should continue to have access to MSG's SD feeds just as they have access to the Canadian feeds. The dispute between MSG and DISH doesn't effect the NHL's agreement with DISH network, so you should be fine. You may notice that picture quality isn't as good but other than that you should be fine. Now, having said that, broadcasting is a oddly complex and multi-layered affair that crosses the world of technology, politics, and big money, so I could be totally wrong.
JoeinCalifornia Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Yeah, you'll still get the Sabres games with Dish Network on Center Ice. If you subscribed to their Sports packages, MSG has been dropped with all the FSN channels. FX as well. I'm in Buffalo for a wedding and my dad has Dish, well had it, he's on the phone cancelling as we speak.
Corp000085 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 I have dish with center ice. I'm calling when its a reasonable hour today. Just got off the phone with DishNetwork. I was told that MSG (and fox sports for that matter) will not be available through regular programming or through the dish sports package. However, channels provided through Center Ice, including the fox sports regional channels and MSG will not be affected. Therefore, according to the phone representative, I'll still be able to watch the sabres on msg next friday. No word on whether it will be broadcasted in HD though...
inkman Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Sooooo glad I didn't switch to dish. A little sick of my $150 cable bill, but I'll take it over the BS dealing with Dish.

We're about 18 months into a 24 month contract with dish... They dumped disney hd as well as espn u hd and espnnews hd. Not to mention they don't carry an HD feed of our local pbs channel. The reason why we got dish in the first place was cause we were down to one income (i had to do studnet teaching) and we had a kid on the way. Now that our income has jumped about 50% since then, we can afford the extra $15/month for directv again.
