Sabres still filling Pirates roster with training camp soon to open

The Portland Pirates are preparing to open training camp this week, the last team in the American Hockey League to do so, and there is still a number of questions that remain with the roster, or lack thereof.

 

The Pirates will have some talented players this season with the likes of rookies Luke Adam and Corey Tropp, but on paper, the Pirates roster as constructed still has a numerous number of holes, making one question if they can even compete for a playoff spot.

Given the fact Mancari, Ellis, and Gerbe are likely to be sent down and as you mentioned, Parrish a likely candidate for Portland, I'd say the roster is shaping up quite nicely.

The problem is that if they want the player for the AHL, they'd have to again clear waivers here to be sent down (or at least clear past the team that originally waived them).
