I love Lindy being mic-ed (sic?). Really sounds like he's coaching. Actually, he sounds like every soccer mom in America. "Git it! Git it, Dakota! Git that ball. Yeah, way to hustle!" The players have to want to stop, stick him in the face and say, shut the hell up. Lindy at the whiteboard describing offensive breakouts is hilarious. His teams, excepting a few years with Teppo and Soupy on the back end, couldn't break out of a Mexican jail at siesta time.

Here's an encouraging report on the savage beast:

 

Kassian checked hard, set up Ennis for a breakaway with a long, pinpoint outlet pass and scored his goal on a breakaway, deking the goaltender to the ice and going top shelf with a backhand. He also skated much better and faster than his reputation, which pegged him as needing work.

 

They'll probably send him down to juniors, but I'd love to see him get a few games in the NHL, just to get a look at him.

Definitely. I doubt they will keep him for the first 9 game limit but i would like to see him stick around and play in a pre-season game or two. I truly believe, if it wasn't for his 25 game suspension last year, that he'd give the Sabres a major case to keep him up, similar to what Tyler Myers did last year. There isn't much Kassian needs to work on, but the speed of the game is just something you can't teach, you have to learn with experience, and losing 25 games was tough. Even Kassian said that the speed of the game, even OHL to AHL is a major gap which he realizes just by practicing with the AHL guys, and the jump to NHL is even much greater.

 

Not sure if already posted, but Kassian prior to coming to rookie camp was a beast for Windsor in their pre-season games, something like 2 games, 4 goals, 2 assists and 1 fighting major.

Gerbe's a little pit bull (maybe Terrier?) He would have ripped the euro's head off. That's one thing we will gain from Darcy's new found romance with north american boys - team toughness will return.
