X. Benedict Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 The trouble with Kennedy isn't that he can't play in the NHL - he can. The trouble is most bad teams don't have enough talent to play a puck possession style game. He's really undersided for fourth line energy lines. And not a top 6 scorer. There are really about only about 10 teams he would reaLly fit on for possession systems on the 3rd line wing. Buffalo has Gerbe in his slot. So probably in hindsight Arby wasn't the best idea for him.
LastPommerFan Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 I wonder if this fairy tale will be a Grim warning to others in his position that an arbitration award can destroy your career.

I don't think so. Clarke MacArthur seemed to land on his feet. It is case by case. But I do think Kennedy had bad advice....however, he did okay financially in the end as well.

I have to believe that if he had stayed in the buffalo system, and made the same $850k he ended up making, he would have a higher value this year than $105,000.

I'm thinking those of us on this board aren't making 105k not even close. Im guessing average income of the board to be around 25-40K. We should all be so lucky to have Tim Kennedy's problems.

HurlyBurly51 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 You can bet he's hoping to catch with a divisional rival so he can be part of a team that potentially screws Regier and co. out of a playoff spot or better yet ousts them out of the playoffs. Thats a huge motivator for this guy right now. I'm thinking that the bitterness is like stomach acid burning his throat and he just can't get rid of that taste. This is laughable! The guy is looking for a job - any job! Typical Buffalo doomsayer paranoid mentality. Don't worry about Kennedy and enjoy the current team and the positive direction they're heading..
spndnchz Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 ...and Kennedy clears waivers. Headed to the Rampage.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Has anyone ever asked him in an interview if he has ever regretted going to arbitration?
X. Benedict Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Has anyone ever asked him in an interview if he has ever regretted going to arbitration? I believe he was asked once Buffalo bought him out. There was the typical "That's business" type of response. I don't know if he has been asked since.

Even when he made the Sabres he was the last guy to make the 23 player roster. But to his agents credit - he did get him a one way contract with the Rangers after he was bought out by Buffalo.

To be fair the way they through money at their issues I suspect most of us could get a one way contract with the Rangers. :D. In all seriousness, true dat.
matter2003 Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Really irrelevant at this point because Kennedy isn't good enough to be on this team anyway this year...
wonderbread Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Really irrelevant at this point because Kennedy isn't good enough to be on this team anyway this year... Nice point. This team looks really stocked this year.
LabattBlue Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 ...and Kennedy clears waivers. Headed to the Rampage. If you have to play in the AHL, San Antonio is a pretty good destination.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 And in 20-30 years, no one will really remember him, or any of this. Sad but true.
thesportsbuff Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 And in 20-30 years, no one will really remember him, or any of this. Sad but true. 20-30 years? I barely remember who the kid is now, and I still could not care less about the whole situation. He didn't have a spot on the hockey team and got bought out. ###### happens. Looking at our roster right now, Tim Kennedy would beat out.................. none of them. We are better off without him. Sucks for him that he's not better off without us, but that's business.
mudberry Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Good luck Tim. It's great to see a local guy get as far as you did. Sorry it didn't work out in Buffalo, but hopefully you find a home in the NHL somewhere.

I figured there might be a handful of purists out there that might give a crap for awhile.
X. Benedict Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Nothing wrong with wanting to see the hometowners make it professionally. If anyone remembers in 20 years it will be here.

LabattBlue Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I don't know, the travel has to be pretty brutal. It can't be all bus travel in the AHL, is it?
