Bullwinkle Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I just read where the Red Wings will have 15 players under contract, meaning they could trade or waive one...Drew Miller being the most likely candidate since he'll be a free agent next season. Problem for us is that he's a LW. But would acquiring him take people's minds off of Stempniak and the Kennedy PR disaster? (I know Ryan would be happy)
static70 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 No thanks, he does nothing to upgrade the team.
Calvin Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 We already have Lalime to hold Miller's train, wipe his brow and get his his water bottle.

I like Drew Miller's game, and he fits in well with the Wings, but we already have enough of that type as noted above. The brother aspect is nice, but if we go down that road, let's bring in "the other Niedermayer" instead.

SwampD Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Drew Miller = Tim Kennedy but taller. But half the price, so he does fit.
Sabre Dance Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 He does have a Stanley Cup ring - maybe he would show it to some of the Sabres so they could see one in their lifetime.....

Sabre Dance Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 That's why we picked up Niedermayer - and the only reason. Maybe one more; it will be interesting to see what Jeanneret does with his name the first time Rob scores a goal.....
Foligno's Nose Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Maybe one more; it will be interesting to see what Jeanneret does with his name the first time Rob scores a goal..... There has to be some good inspiration from Animal House. A pledge pin!?! On you uniform!?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYDTrRadNuc

If the Ducks make a serious playoff run this upcoming season, he may decide to give it another go. He still has it in him, but there is nothing else to conquer.
Marvelo Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Maybe one more; it will be interesting to see what Jeanneret does with his name the first time Rob scores a goal..... If I was Rick, I'd retire right now. Who wants to call games and manufacture enthusiasm with this cut-rate team? He's done way more than enough all these years to make them sound exciting. You better take Neale out of the pressbox too before he croaks on the air. The Sabres are generic, pure and simple. It's obvious that their time to shine was the Drury-Briere years. Since they let that fall apart, very scant attention has been paid to paying for and building a contender and I wouldn't want to be the one to try to put lipstick on this pig. It's beneath Rick's dignity to try to make Golisano's rag-tag NHL venture look like a bonafide contender.
