Great! So when is Enroth coming up to the bigs to stay? I know we signed Lalime again :wallbash: but unless the FO is seeing something we're not, this is just doing Enroth a disservice by not bringing him up permanently.

I think they want Enroth to get as much ice time as possible which I think is the right move at this stage of his career.

I agree with nfreeman on Enroth staying in Portland. Getting ice time and perfecting your game prior to moving up in 2011 is beneficial.

Refresh my memory, please. Didn't Lalime re-up with the Sabres for 1 yr or 2? If it's 1, then I think I can breathe a bit of a sigh of relief. By that time, Enroth should be ready for the bigs. If it's 2, then this really is not helping Enroth at all IMO.

Nice, fills a need, but cynically I am wondering if Regier is trying to dissipate his screw up with the Kennedy debacle... probably. Typical Regier giving himself another round about plausible deniable talking point.

Letting a rookie ride pine with 10 - 15 starts when he missed half a season would be surefire failure. He should stay sharp with lots of work and then be ready if he is really needed so this is the right move for sure I think.

Typical of sabre fans to think this. Everything is like the Xfiles.

Normally, I would agree, but Regier has a track record of this crap. I think the signing fills two needs, goalie obviously and Regier talking points.

Good one though... X-Files, a little over stated don't you think it is Regier, he is not that complicated just full-of- it.

Seriously, I hope he does well.

Also, in the X files don't they at least try to be a secret. Darcy's right out in the open.

Kennedy stays or goes. they still need a goaltender for the Portland Pirates. That's all. It's not a action or coverup to something else in my opinion. But I'll watch for inky eyes.

It was a 1-year deal.

Out in the open... LOL, when he is exposed. Also, Darcy doesn't necessarily hide things or can't, whatever, he just seems to be incredibly manipulative and always telling only part of the story. Called plausible deny-ability, not the full truth, but enough of it to put his spin on it. Though, I agree it is pretty transparent that he is FOS. Yet Darcy still keeps up that tired old act..

I was just suggesting he was killing two birds with one stone.... so to speak....

This just in: local boy gets a job.

I like it. Give the hometown former ECAC tender of a year of pro backup duty. It's better then playing in Europe.

EDIT: And it takes some serious paranoia to think this has anything ot do with Tim Kennedy.

X Files and paranoia mentioned in one thread. You guys are obviously new Buffalo fans. It's all real.

This signing is typical off-season maintenance, nothing more...or more dramatic I don't think. I agree that Enroth could use another year of regular play, and if he has a solid year, he should be ready to roll.

Sabres sign goaltender Leggio for Portland

There's a frozen waffle play-by-play call in there somewhere.

That's kewl that Leggio got signed. But, I don't think it has anything to do with perhaps being familiar with him. I think he's been involved in being an extra somewhere sometime in the Sabres area such as in scrimmages and what not. Mayhaps faulty memory but could have sworn he's been used before as practice goalie.

I also don't think it matters if or when Enroth is NHL-ready. This year, next year, the year after. Ryan Miller is it. If he is the back-up next year, he'll only play like 15 games. I still think his stock is in trade value. When will he really get a shot? 4 years from now? Maybe even farther down the road than that? And, for those of you complain about Miller, just think how much more you will complain about if Enroth has to be the No. 1. I can't really see him as being more than average. The goalie of the future is not in the system now and won't be for a while I think.
