HSBC Deal: Parking woes?

Now that the City has given HSBC the Webster parking lot, what does that do to parking for games? That lot held a lot of vehicles. Where will they go now? Does this mean people have to park in those really scary lots two or more blacks away from the Arena? Sounds like a field day for the muggers.

correction: two or more BLOCKS not blacks.

Scary lots? We have parked off Exchange St.(under the Elm St. off ramp for years now). There is nothing scary about it. Unless you are trying to get free parking around the partially constructed casino, you will not have any problems.

Phew...I saw blacks, and then read muggers as another word too...I thought I had read the worst post ever...then I read it again and realized the correction.

That is a good question about the lot though, parking is scarce as it is.

Ah...yes.....along with the selection of the word, "muggers".

You must work in sales.

Anyway...good point. It's no fun having to walk too far in January. I don't mind parking in any neighborhood, but I refuse to wear 4 layers into the arena from an arctic trek.

Reminds me of this NSFW southpark clip:

Regier: Yo, yo, yo! This mahn is Regier-mahn, my homies. <Dances with George Michael.> Welcome to da hood where I care about my jewels, my chains, my crap. Not players, mahn! Come check out da new parking lot in da hood!

Scary.

Isn't this something that won't go through for a couple years anyway?

Will this be next to Rigas' new building, Bass Pro, the Seneca Casino and the domed downtown stadium for the Bills -- and how far from the signature span Peace Bridge?

This is HSBC we're talking about. One of the only stable corporations that is entrenched in the area. I see it going one of two ways...

1) HSBC stays downtown and that parking lot is roped off next season.

2) HSBC bails on the City, leaving the tower but maybe keeping the Atrium bldg.

If HSBC leaves, the City is truly dead. They occupy over 70% of the tower. Some law firm sits in about another %18 of it. If they both leave, you have the tallest bldg in the State outside of NYC basically empty. Any plan to develop the Harbor includes the fact that those 4000+ employees are forced to come to the area five days a week. You had better hope that HSBC expands in that lot, because the alternative is a death-blow to a downtown that's been slowly dying for 20 years.
