It is great Regier and the front office are finding guys to fill roster spots in Portland, but someone needs to keep their head out for a point producing top forward, specifically center or right wing, for Vanek.

I'm expecting Regier to sign Maccauley Caulken(spelling?) any minute now and tout him as top six.

Did Congress pass Cash for Caulkers?

When forward Dennis McCauley hits the ice in the fall, he’s surely going to become a quick fan favorite at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

"McCauley said the biggest selling point was the potential to make the NHL roster in September, but if he should end up in Portland, he’s playing for one of the top head coaches in the AHL in Kevin Dineen."

I would hope they all say that. If the goal isn't to make the NHL, they should probably hang up the skates.

And now we can we all get extremly excited about an "off season closure press conference". I can hear Larry Quinn now, "And with another mediocre signing, we the Buffalo Sabres have concluded our offseason". :death:

Longtime former Sharks captain Owen Nolan opened the scoring for Minnesota. As center Eric Belanger and former Hab Guillaume Latendresse broke into the offensive zone, Nolan beat Jay Leach to the front of the net and tipped a shot short side. It was the first in a string of 6 straight power play goals by both teams. The Sharks answered with seconds ticking down on the man advantage. Rookie defenseman Jason Demers took a feed from Ryane Clowe on the point and uncorked a rising slapshot that beat Josh Harding up high.
