Zherdev wants to come back to the NHL

Thanks nfreeman, I tend to get excitable at times, but I'm only trying to post what I'm reading. I do like to speculate, but I really want the Sabres or TSN to indicate something before I believe it. Although, I will admit, I try and follow as much as I can about the team.

 

And if anyone can confirm anything, please do. Even a fart in the breeze over at HSBC would be news at this point and time.

Also, whats the gig with this HF Boards place, it looks like hockey galore, but after reading a few of the posts, there seems to be a whole lot of bickering. It was hard to clear out the nonsense and get some info. But one guy did post the wiki link.

It's regarded as one of the best and largest multi-national hockey boards there are. Bigger doesn't always mean better as there are more opinions etc. leading to the "bickering" you noted. But there is plenty of that here as well. I find the trade/free agency section fun for a look every now and then though.

Nah, just means Flyers are a good 6 mill over the cap. They've got plenty of time though to get under.

I don't have the slightest idea how twitter works, but when I see the name Eklund on the same line as that Zherdev story, I immediately start to doubt it.

Ya, I saw his name in there and I doubt as well. No word on the Atlant site nor any where else, but it is funny to post it.

I did however, post a link to the Mclean interview on wgr shrader. He stated straight out the Sabres should sign this guy.

I don't think that the time factor is a problem. Look how long it's taking to sign Kovalchuk. And I think the above poster is right, once Kovalchuk falls, so will Gagne and the others.

I can't see how the Flyers can be in this - unless their offer is 1-2 mil per season. They have a lot of maneuvering to do before next year.

 

After the Nabby move today it looks like they're going to go after Turco. That will probably put them over the cap and so Carter or Gagne will have to go. Everything would be in transition. But on the other hand, they love change - they do it every year.

 

It would worry me if Zherdev went there however. I want him to be a Sabre.

I am pretty pessimistic on this signing at this point. Dmitri Chesnokov from Puck Daddy, who is pretty credible (and worth reading) IMHO, is reporting that he has reached an agreement with the Flyers.

 

I think that means though that they have to trade Gagne. If the Sabres could scoop him up for Stafford, I'd be pleased, and maybe happier at getting Gagne for 1 year than having to commit something like $3.75MM x 3 years for Zherdev.

Gagne is a LWer, we have plenty of them already. The deal is not done yet, according to flyers fans a trade needs to happen. I was hoping the Sabres would spend a little, but, its Darcy.
