BillHoppe Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 You might've seen it tweeted by Darren Dreger. I just spoke to McCormick's agent, and it's the first one-way deal of his career. Is this the end of Adam Mair?

inkman Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Take it back Ink. Despite the fact I just sharted and had to throw out my favorite undies, I'm effing delighted. Thank you Darcy!!!!!
nfreeman Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 So DR did sign a forward. I guess we can call off the quest for Eric Staal now.
spndnchz Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Word on the street is that the Oilers were looking at getting Cody. Prolly the reason he's signed by the Sabres earlier than expected. I'd imagine the Oilers showed him a two-way deal and Cody got a one-way from Sabres. Most likely less money but one-way. Note: he had 2 way last year @550k and this time around it's a 1 way at 500k.

And he never saw a penny of the NHL side of that contract last year, so he has to consider this a big victory for himself.

carpandean Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Is this the end of Adam Mair? Or Matt Ellis. Mair showed some value in the playoffs. He's a fine 12/13th forward.
darksabre Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Or Matt Ellis. Mair showed some value in the playoffs. He's a fine 12/13th forward. I would keep Ellis personally. As much as I love Adam, and players like him, he's become synonymous with untimely penalties the last few seasons. It's hard to disagree with the fire he brings, but I can see Mair being gone (and at two years older than Ellis, that might be all the difference).
shrader Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Or Matt Ellis. Mair showed some value in the playoffs. He's a fine 12/13th forward. Give him a two-way and stash him away in Portland and I'm fine with it.
Buffalo Wings Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Well, I'm happy about this. It's not exactly the same "happy" as I'd be if I heard it was a trade for Kaberle, but I'm happy. At minimum, it's new blood. Yes, he got some time in the playoffs, but it's a different guy on the roster who we saw good flashes from. IMO, he deserved a shot with the big boys.
static70 Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 So DR did sign a forward. I guess we can call off the quest for Eric Staal now. :nana: Falacy will get you everywhere :D I actually love this signing. This guy showed some grit in the playoffs and it showed. I give credit where credit is due nfreeman, So Good Job To Darcy And His Staff For This One. Now that line 4 looks to be filling in, how about getting back to Lombardi and a real RWer for Vanek and Roy? No?
billsrcursed Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 I can't believe a signing like this makes me so happy. Love this kid's grit and upside. Good for him, he earned the one way.
billsrcursed Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 yawn. hes a 4th liner That fourth line cost us a number of games last year.
Assquatch Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 I'm at least at half mast now :nana: Falacy will get you everywhere :D That's spelled phallicy.
tom webster Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 That fourth line cost us a number of games last year. I'd like to see something to back that up. The Sabres got pretty good production out of the fourth line.

tom webster Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 You don't think hours of analysis and modeling went into that assertion? Let's leave it at I'm just a bit skeptical.
billsrcursed Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Let's leave it at I'm just a bit skeptical. Well, I certainly recall more than a hand full of GDT's that ended with, "Why the ###### would Ruff put them out there to try and close a game?". I seem to remember a few "Mair sucks" rants along with those posts. You guys seriously don't remember Mair taking a silly penalty with under 2 to go on more than one occasion?

billsrcursed Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 You don't think hours of analysis and modeling went into that assertion? Really? Hmmm... Things have gotten a little sour around here the last few weeks. I'll try harder next time.
