nfreeman Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Ryan Whitney's definitely not a stay at home defenseman. His numbers just haven't been anywhere near decent lately. You are right -- I was thinking of Scuderi (another defenseman that Pittsburgh has lost recently).
Sabre Dance Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Brian Burke has made more moves in the last five days than Darcy has in the last 5 years..... :bag:
wonderbread Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Boogaard to Rangers - 4 yrs 6.5M Slats has officially lost his mind.
darksabre Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Classic idiotic Rangers move. Agreed. What the heck are they thinking with this?
damj Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Brian Burke has made more moves in the last five days than Darcy has in the last 5 years..... :bag: Yeah, but we ... but ... but we ... {sigh} Never mind. Bring on more "youth"
carpandean Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Lydman's gone. 3 x $3 million with the Ducks.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Toni Lydman to the Ducks...3yrs @ $9 Million!!
darksabre Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Lyd's gone. 3 x $3 million with the Ducks. Congrats to Toni. Best of luck in Anaheim (except when we play them).
inkman Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Not surprising, Anaheim has huge holes in the backend. Good for him, good for them.
shrader Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Slats has officially lost his mind. That happened years ago. It's shocking to see just how stupid Sather has become ever since he was handed the bottomless wallet.
OTTOnME Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Paul Martin to Pens. F$CK Darcy Regier looks at his team - which has been in the playoffs three times in five years since the stoppage - and sees little necessity for significant change. The Penguins have made significant changes - each year - to a team already strong enough to contend for the Stanley Cup. Complacency with mediocrity - that's our Darcy.

Maybe Darcy is watching the Bills forum to see if they are signing someone and forgot today started free agency in the NHL.
nfreeman Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Brian Burke has made more moves in the last five days than Darcy has in the last 5 years..... :bag: Apples and oranges. Burke was starting with an atrocious team that needed to be completely remade. Separately: Adios, Toni. Thanks for the memories and for your hard work and headbanging metal in the locker room. Fare thee well.
Sabre Dance Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Ray Whitney to Phoenix - $3 mil X 2 years. Has anyone checked Darcy for a pulse? Does he know today is July 1?
darksabre Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Whitney to Phoenix for a reasonable price. Would have liked Darcy to make this deal. Guhhhh
damj Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Complacency with mediocrity - that's our Darcy.
McJeff215 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 NHLSourcesSay 3:12pm via Web Pavel Kubina has 2 offers on the table at this time, Islanders and Sabres.
static70 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 NHLSourcesSay 3:12pm via Web Pavel Kubina has 2 offers on the table at this time, Islanders and Sabres. Well, its a good thing the Islanders are getting a decent D man finally
CallawaySabres Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Maybe they are just planning on extending the contracts of Pomminstein, Connolly and Gaustad so there will be no $$ left to add players. I think I saw Lindy put the pads on in practice once so maybe that is the backup goalie plan......Perfect, they can throw that $$ that would have been spent on a goalie to extend Mair
Mbossy Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I set my nap alarm to wake me up way too early, hitting the snooze bar. or is that the Darcy bar?
OTTOnME Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 NHLSourcesSay 3:12pm via Web Pavel Kubina has 2 offers on the table at this time, Islanders and Sabres. Presumably, Pavel Kubina and Anton Volchenkov are looking for $5,000,000 per season. Why not offer it to the younger guy?
nfreeman Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Presumably, Pavel Kubina and Anton Volchenkov are looking for $5,000,000 per season. Why not offer it to the younger guy? First of all, the rumor cite that was quoted has zero credibility. Second, just for the sake of discussion, Kubina has some offensive skills, while Volchenkov has none. Third, I agree with you and would rather have Volchenkov. But I'm not holding my breath. Fourth, I will be very surprised if Kubina gets $5MM (or $4MM for that matter) from the Sabres or from anyone else.
Iron Crotch Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 ...but we like the team we've got... trades are hard to come by... free agents are expensive...
