North Buffalo Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Fire Darcy Now! He got outmaneuvered and then didn't have the cahoonahs to either trade down and get picks or do something else creative.... Where is a bucket of sand so I can stick my head into it.
nfreeman Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 That was really exciting. Like a roller coaster. I feel like the Bills just picked another defensive back in the first round.
Rip Titwide Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Regier's ineptitude has just "wowed me". Ruff's handshake was especially cold.
nobody Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 That was really exciting. Like a roller coaster. I feel like the Bills just picked another defensive back in the first round. And there would be 20 threads already about what an awful pick it was!
North Buffalo Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Awful, probably not, a waste of a first rounder, yep....
Tony P Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I think they were looking to trade down. Just my observation. When the camera hit the Sabres' table just before the commercial break, Darcy's checking his phone and the laptop on the table is showing the Windows desktop - nothing happening there at all. Just a bunch of guys looking around waiting for a call that never came. They had no choice but to pick this kid. Habs ate their lunch. Sad.

shrader Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 So many of you continue to fall to new lows. We're not crucifying Darcy because of what goes on in the mid 20s of the draft? It's funny that so many of you talk about how he is so predictable, well guess what, so are you.

And even when he talks he sounds boring.

Calvin Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Fire Darcy Now! He got outmaneuvered and then didn't have the cahoonahs to either trade down and get picks or do something else creative.... Well said!! Shame on Darcy for not doing anything creative! Why oh why did he not try to talk the Oilers into swopping that #1 pick for Kassian and Roy and Stafford?! In fact, Darcy should have tried to see if they would take Vanek for that first pick! He could've even thrown in Rick Jeanneret for free in that deal as a sweetener!!
nfreeman Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 And there would be 20 threads already about what an awful pick it was! Indeed. That's what I mean about the barbarians at the gate. Anyway, this kid could be really good. The TSN guy said he was playing 30 minutes per game. The TV said he was 6'1.5", 182, which is a bit more than the website says -- but he just turned 18 5 months ago. I'm kinda disappointed there was no trade today, but I don't think any of us is qualified to say whether Tinordi is better or worse than Pysyk (which is a great Buffalo name, BTW). Burke said he didn't want draft picks for Kaberle anyway, so that trade isn't off the table. For that matter it doesn't seem like any of the guys who were rumored to be on the trading block got traded today. Welcome to the Blue and Gold, Pysyk! May you have many years of success.
nfreeman Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 They're interviewing him now on wgr online. He sounds like a good kid.
nfreeman Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 He said he wants to model himself after Duncan Keith -- no hesitation when asked who he wanted to emulate. He said he wants to develop his offensive game more. I bet he's a better NHL player than Tinordi. Anyone want to put a $20 spot on it?

It seems like it happens every year now. There's a lot of chatter all over the league going into the draft about trades and then very little happens during the first. The 2nd day usually ends up having a little better action, but the real fun always centers around July 1.

Bob McKenzie had Pysyk ranked 20th and Tinordi 23rd. Scott Cullen had Tinordi 20th and Pysyk 21st.
Peter Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I know it does not make much difference to some of you,but TSN had him rated higher than Tinordi. The fact of the matter is that these guys are just kids. Except for the top of the draft (and in a lot of cases including the top of the draft), it is very difficult to project how good any of these guys will be. If the kid is a solid defenseman for the Sabres for many years, it is a good pick. If not, he will be like many, many players selected in this part of the draft.

Registered 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) in 61 games with Edmonton in 2008-09. What Scouts Say -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "He finished the season with a broken foot and a lot of scouts weren't able to get a good grip on how good this player's going to be in the NHL. Smooth-skating, he has a neat knack for following up the play at the right time, leading the rush at the right time and throwing a crisp pass to one of his forwards to break out of his zone." - E.J. McGuire, Director NHL Central Scouting -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "One of the better skaters you will ever see, Pysyk is a good offensive minded defender who still takes care of his own end very well. Pysyk is an example of a tremendous talent playing on a very poor team the past couple of years but has still managed to put up respectable numbers in his situation. He has great awareness with and without the puck and can be relied on to make consistently intelligent decisions at both ends of the ice." - International Scouting Services 2010 NHL Draft Guide -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "He's just a safe, smooth-skating, first-pass guy. He's much better when he keeps it simple. He's not dynamic, but there are no flaws in his game.' - A scout, quoted in The Hockey News Draft Preview 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "All the tools, but no toolbox. Tremendous raw natural ability. Excellent skater with a fluid, powerful stride. Good acceleration and can carry the puck through the neutral zone with speed and agility. Outstanding puck moving ability. Starts a lot of rushes with crisp, long passes out of his own end. Runs the PP well, but struggles to do much offensively at even strength. Accurate shot, but lacks velocity. Should produce more offense with his tools. Offensive zone instincts are lacking. Not willing to pay the price in the defensive zone. Hears footsteps and throws puck away - easily pressed into mistakes/turnovers. Always seems to be just going through the motions. - Red Line Report 2010 Draft Guide
deluca67 Posted June 26, 2010 Author Report Posted June 26, 2010 On a team sadly in need of NHL defenseman Mark Pysyk is a nice pick. Hopefully he fills out more. Hearing him described for some reason Mike Ramsey came to mind. This team can use a couple of Mike Ramsey types. They needed a Dylan McIlrath type more but I was dreaming to thing that Regier had the stones to move up and get that kid.
static70 Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Sabres this off season to date: PATHETIC Regier and his mind set with his career in Buffalo: NO STANLEY CUP, BUT HEY, ATLEAST WE PUT ON GOOD SHOW Buffalo's management of this team in the last 13 seasons: LOSER MENTALITY! STANLEY CUP? WHATS THAT? I THOUGHT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS IS WHAT FANS WANTED!!! BUFFALO SABRES ACTIONS, OFF SEASON/DRAFT2010: PATHETIC :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
Kevbeau Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 You get a guy in the mid-20s who ends up having many years in the NHL, that's a good pick. Whether Tinordi was the guy or not, Etem wasn't even on their radar. Plus he's right handed...if he ends up being a decent 2nd pairing D-man, it's a great pick.
static70 Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 defense we do not need. OFFENSE WE DO NEED! :censored:

You using the word "predicable" is funnier than me calling someone negative  It's like TW complaining because some is overly optimistic.

static70 Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Seriously? Ah, yes. Seriously. Answer me this, How in the ###### could a pick at 23 as a defenseman help the Sabres in the next 2 seasons? Right, just what I thought, HE CAN'T!!!!!!!!! Why not trade for some O talent, namely a 3rd line Center currently on a roster and throw in a 3rd rd pick or 2 to secure that deal. All this tells me is Darcy (As F##King usual) has no interest in a run for LORD STANLEYS CUP, but is more interested in building for THE FUTURE. SAME DANCE, DIFFERENT DAY!
