Halak dealt to Blues

OK, I really cannot believe after Halak almost single-handedly won them the Capital series and played as well as he did during the playoffs they would choose to keep Price, a player with great talent who has been a disappointment so far. Yes, Price could be great, but he could also be just as inconsistent as he has been up to this point. Why trade a proven commodity who has proven he can steal playoff games by himself for a guy who has potential, but is far from reaching it. Move makes little sense to me. It would be like the Sabres trading Ryan Miller to keep Jonas Enroth. Montreal will live to regret this move...Saint Louis got a pretty good goalie...not quite elite level, but definitely an elite playoff performer...

They simply dealt him when his value was high, something Regier has yet to learn. He usually waits til he actually has to give them away for nothing. They may have thought his playoff success was a one off situation and he was playing above his potential or maybe they have another deal in the works.

They brought in a couple of decent prospects apparently, still seems a little low for a decent goalie.

And to think, the Leafs fans think they can get a high first, or a first and a prospect for Kaberle

The Habs mad a financial move with this, he is the older goalie who is going to cost the most to resign. Price is younger so he has the potential to grow and improve, and right now won't cost as much as Halak will probably demand. This was a move to get a couploe prospects for a hot player before they lose him for a few picks or re-sign him for a huge raise. I don't think many here would be too happy if Regier made this move.

The only thing about this move is that they made the move to control where he goes and to get something for someone they may not have gotten anything for and couldn't afford under the cap, its a move that should have been made with guys like Briere and Drury
