nfreeman Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 [/b] Some days I feel like Mark Wahlberg in 'The Happening.' I have no idea what is happening to the people around me. Maybe people need to take a deep breath and take a good long look at the remainder of Campbell's contract. Based on return and value his contract is worse than Vanek's and Pominville's. WTF people? No question that Soupy's contract stinks. I wouldn't take it on without getting Sharp in the deal. But I would jump at the opportunity to export 2 lousy attitudes in Roy and Stafford and import 2 very talented veterans with rings who really care about winning (and with plenty of miles left on the odometer) in Sharp and Soupy.

Stinks? You're talking about $20 Million for Campbell, Vanek and Pominville. I like Campbell, just not at the money and the years left.

static70 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I read somewhere in the last couple of days that Chicago has no intention of dealing Sharpe. Buff and Versteeg may be available. But McKenzie tweeted Chicago wanted a 1st and a top prospect for him. No thank you, his playoff performance was very good, his regular season wasn't anything to write home about. Versteeg I wouldn't mind, but for cheap.
deluca67 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Sounds like Gauthier was really high on Eller. You've got to give value to get value. He's probably got something else he's working on in regards to a goaltender. I can't believe he's put montreals future in Prices hands. The guy can't handle Montreals rabid fan base. I think he's a bit fragile. The only Blackhawk I want to see in a Sabres uniform (outside of Toews) is Dustin Byfuglien.
Calvin Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 The only Blackhawk I want to see in a Sabres uniform (outside of Toews) is Dustin Byfuglien. I'd take Kane too, but a big  for Buff for sure
darksabre Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Take time out from ironing your Brian Campbell jersey? :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: only jersey I own from that era is a Shields goathead, but I digress. I don't love Campbell by any means but with the screaming that any significant player brought in would be an improvement, I'd support his return if executed properly.

The Sabres need to improve this summer. Bringing in Sharp and Soupy would represent a major improvement at the 2 positions of greatest need. I would rather overpay Soupy than overpay some of the stiffs the Sabres are currently overpaying -- i.e. I would gladly dump TC or Pommer in a separate deal for a pick or a prospect if necessary to make the budget work.

Campbell is a good player just not significant enough to spend that much on.
Billfold100 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Just an observers opinion mind you, but you'll change this tune once he's on Savards wing. You may want to contimplate that Boston did indeed, get much better today. They are going after it and with a first good move I might add. They'll be beating up on this Sabres team on the score sheet if they continue to make shrewed moves such as this, atleast IMHO. I'll believe it when I see it. IMO, he's exactly what we already have too much of (underachieving, questionable attitude and work ethic) and he has a bad contract to go with it. Maybe Boston got considerably better. Maybe Drew Stafford will put up 30 goals somewhere else when he is dealt out of Buffalo. Maybe not. Interesting that a guy like Tallon who built Chicago's cup team would make getting rid of Horton a priority....
bunomatic Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Norton won't be the first player to benefit from a change of senery. Thats the thing about chiarelli,he constantly tries to improve his team. Thats a nice concept. Tallon did'nt only get rid of Norton,he brought in Wideman and a 1st. The rebuilding begins.
bunomatic Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Sorry typo, thats scenery. Would'nt want the spelling police to bust my ballls.
static70 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Sorry typo, thats scenery. Would'nt want the spelling police to bust my ballls. Psss.......before the spelling police catch you, its HORTON, not NORTON

So why get rid of a 25 year old former 3rd overall pick who is under contract for the next 3 years if you are rebuilding? Aren't those the types of players you rebuild around? For a defenseman who had 6 goals and was -14 + a first rd pick??
spndnchz Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Sorry typo, thats scenery. Would'nt want the spelling police to bust my ballls. I'm confused as to what letter is missing between the 'd' and the 'n' that requires a '. Please inform.
static70 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 KARBERLE TO BOSTON Per Team 990 confirmed by the Leafs organization on the radio. Details to follow.
darksabre Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 KARBERLE TO BOSTON Per Team 990 confirmed by the Leafs organization on the radio. Details to follow. never heard of him, must be some minor league prospect

Interesting that a guy like Tallon who built Chicago's cup team would make getting rid of Horton a priority.... I don't think it has much to do with Tallon. I'm guessing that just about any GM was going to send Horton packing. He's a classic example of the guy who needs a change of scenery, as bunomatic said. Norton won't be the first player to benefit from a change of senery. Thats the thing about chiarelli,he constantly tries to improve his team. Thats a nice concept. Tallon did'nt only get rid of Norton,he brought in Wideman and a 1st. The rebuilding begins. So if he's constantly trying to improve his team, what move did he make last offseason to do that? Their only additions were Begin and Derek Morris, which in no way balanced out the departures, specifically, Kessel.
spndnchz Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 KARBERLE TO BOSTON Per Team 990 confirmed by the Leafs organization on the radio. Details to follow. I have a hard time believing that. Unless Burke just wants his pick back.
carpandean Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I have a hard time believing that. Unless Burke just wants his pick back. Just?! Ain't no way he's getting that #2 pick back for Kaberle. He might get one or two of Boston's second-round picks, but not the first.

He might get one or two of Boston's second-round picks, but no the first. Yup. And I thought I heard Burke wanted Savard, and Boston won't give him up. I wish they would though, Boston's looking good this year.

And if this does indeed go through, it was one ###### of a collosal screw up by Burke. He could have moved Kaberle to Boston last year and still landed Kessel without including that first round pick. Instead he kept him and gained absolutely nothing, on top of losing that 2nd overall pick. And I will note that I reserve the right to retract this depending on what the return is, but short of the absolute miracle that would be Boston giving him the pick back, I don't see much that can save him on this one.
static70 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Yup. And I thought I heard Burke wanted Savard, and Boston won't give him up. I wish they would though, Boston's looking good this year. Hold the phone on this. PJ Stock, let go from team 990 months ago, released this information to Team 990. He is not a reliable source, team 990 has retracted the confirmation. Team 990 needs to get thier act together. PJ Stock does not represent the Leafs organization. Sorry folks, they dropped the ball on this one. NO KABERLE TO BOSTON. Not yet anyways.
carpandean Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Looks like the "source" at 990 in Toronto is a guy that they fired months ago and has a history of prank trade calls. No mention of it from any of the more reliable media sources. I'm calling it bunk.
