Stafford for Kaberle, I would do that move, but I know Burke won't, and I can't see him and Regier ever doing a big deal together cause both of them have to look like the genius in every move they make, and theres no way Burke will take just Stafford. He wants a 1st and a prospect for him, he won't take Buffalos trash for him, not without throwing in a high pick, which i wouldn't give up for Kaberle, he is highly over rated by the Leafs and their fans.

As for the Horton deal, I would be all over dealing for him and sending the Panthers whomever they wanted (except Miller, Myers, and Vanek). Horton most likely will be moved, he has had problems with the front office and coaches in the last little while, and its rumored that Florida is preparing for a fire sale. I would trade Connolly, or Roy straight up for Horton.

I was a huge Oshawa Generals fan during Hortons years with the team. I haven't really watched him in Florida but man if he's anything like his OHL years, he'll help the power play immidiately. The guy was always a sniper, but his back checking was a big question mark at that time. Players playing for the Panthers won't necessarily have the points as the team is terrible but I think a change to Buffalo would be huge for the sabres. Get him, look for a very top end defenseman and back up goaltender and we are set for October.

While I'd love to do a swap of Roy for Horton, and pick up a PP QB, I still want to change more of the top six. Lose Stafford and Connolly while bringing in two forwards that score and like to hurt people, now that might bring a smile to my face.

Why would Burke want Stafford? He is not a Burke type player. He's too soft and lacks dedication. I could see Burke looking at Gaustad and thinking he could get him back on track. Stafford? I just don't see.

Well, you wouldn't think Paille was a Bruin-type player, but he seemed to make the transition OK. In fact, he burned the Sabres a few times in the reg. season and the playoffs. Who knows, Stafford with a different sweater on might turn into something..... (or maybe not).

Paille is still Paille, he skates, hits in limited fashion and scores the odd timely goal. No different than when he was here.

While Stafford has left us longing for more nearly every shift.

He's a strong defensive forward, which is exactly what Boston wants. I don't understand why that ability never meshed well with Lindy. Isn't that what Ruff usually likes?

I think his status as a first rounder who was billed as a scorer and hitter really haunted him in Buffalo. Now that he has left, that stigma has left him as well.

Im hearing rumblings from a few places that Buffalo and Chicago are kicking the tires on a few players.

Patrick Sharp to Buffalo?

I just don't see Sharp as the big difference maker the Sabres need. If most are correct and the Sabres are only going to make a couple of moves I would hope for something a bit more substantial than Sharp.

Sharp is substantially better than Horton. Getting him would be a great move, and getting him plus Kaberle would be an excellent offseason.

why is sharp better than horton? id be happy with either one of them.

The money is the same and Horton is 3 years younger.

Sharp is a very strong 2-way player and an alternate captain and top-6 forward for a Cup winner. Horton has a rep for not playing hard and is being dumped by a perennial league doormat as part of a housekeeping project. I'd be happy to take a flyer on Horton in trade for one of the Sabres' underachievers, but I'd much rather have Sharp.

Do you see him as a fit on the right side opposite Vanek? My priority is at center. If I am bringing in a winger I want that winger to play opposite Vanek. That Stanely Cup ring walking into the locker is a nice bonus I must admit.

I see him centering for Vanek and through skill and leadership getting more out of Vanek than we've yet seen.

There is a hole at top-line RW, although Vanek shoots right, so maybe Kennedy or Ennis could step up and play whatever wing Vanek doesn't need.

Isn't odd that no one consider Pominville for that spot. He has over 100 goals and 300 points in five season and is a +46. For the money shouldn't the top line be Pominville, Sharp and Vanek.

Pommer absolutely should be the top RW based on $$, but his performance for the last 2 seasons has been so disappointing that I have a hard time getting psyched about him as the top guy. I'd rather hope for a breakthrough from Kennedy or Ennis.

Numbers say otherwise. Is it possible your opinion is contract based? The guy does heat up down the stretch.

numbers say other wise? 24 goals? he should be gettin at least 30 every year for the so called "sniper" that he is. and his contract sucks. garbage.
