BamBam Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Read at your own risk... Any of these strike your fancy? Here are Eck's Weekend Updates: Offer Sheet Players: Offer Sheet Full Story -Wojtek Wolski Stempniak is a UFA, but Wolski is more coveted. The Coyotes are also in a tenuous spot still. Ice Edge is getting closer, but the lease, which is really all that matters, is still unchanged. Teams rumored to have interest...NY Rangers, Stars, Sabres, Flames -Josh Harding Not all offer sheets may be multi-million dollar deals...Harding is one of two goalies who came up today as possibly getting an offer. Teams rumored to have interest...Buffalo and Florida #1 David Perron It is no secret the Blues have money issues. Today they made a move to get a goalie who they will likely pay more than they would have paid to Chris Mason. The Blues have to deal with Perron and Erik Johnson. Two mighty important RFAs Teams rumored to have interest...NJ, Nashville, Buffalo, and Toronto Ducks and Hawks Don't Go Together... Full Story " A major trade has fallen apart involving the Hawks and the Ducks." Another source I checked this with told me he had heard a Ducks trade didnt happen and it could have an impact on Bobby Ryan's availability. That is curious, because another source told me this morning to be on the look out for "a possible deal which could make Ryan a definite Duck, but if the deal doesn't happen, Burke may attempt to deal for him over the weekend." I also believe somehow the Sabres may be involved here... From a source: "Now that the Ducks are out, the Sabres and Hawks will talk again I am told." * Nathan Horton. Full Story There is a better than 50% chance that Horton is moved in the next 48 hours I am told. Three teams in on this. Buffalo, Boston, Calgary. ---------------------------------------------------------- From Hockeybuzz.com On Buffalo...Sabres- D-Men * The Sabres will make a move for a pair of d-men. One as a UFA, one through a trade. * The Sabres like Kubina, but Kubina wants 4 years at 4M per. Sabres-Kaberle I am chasing a few big rumors...but start here... * The Sabres, as stated yesterday, are looking at two d-men. Well, one of them is definitely Tomas Kaberle. The Sabres would have to move Stafford + to land Kaberle I am told. I am also told to expect "many more Sabres rumors at the draft" this year. Sabres-Horton Rumor SUN-SENTINEL.COM: Steve Gorten reports agent Paul Krepelka, who represents Florida Panthers forward Nathan Horton, believes there's a good chance his client will be traded before or at this year's entry draft, slated for June 25-26 in Los Angeles. Horton's no-trade clause doesn't kick in until July 1st, and several teams have reportedly expressed interest, including the Sabres, whom Gorten claims has "serious interest" in Horton and might be willing to part with a top-two center like Tim Connolly or Derek Roy. Thoughts?

BamBam Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 Connolly for Horton straight up? Done deal. I'm sure it can't be that easy though.
deluca67 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Connolly for Horton straight up? Done deal. I'm sure it can't be that easy though. Unless Florida wants the cap space.
SabresFan526 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Unless Florida wants the cap space. Florida would be taking on an additional $500K in cap space if they traded Horton for Connolly straight up. Horton's cap number is $4 million while Connolly's is $4.5 million.
Cereal Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I am also told to expect "many more Sabres rumors at the draft" this year. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the NHL offseason! Any Sabres rumors would be a positive at this point. At any rate, I do enjoy the speculation.

OTTOnME Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 My thought is that they should ban your ######. PASabreFan, Bam Bam does invite the question of what would it cost the Buffalo Sabres - in terms of the players they'd have to give up - in order to pick up the players he named. Tomas Kaberle Would the Sabres trade Derek Roy straight up for him, and would Toronto accept the deal? Would the Leafs prefer Chris Butler or Drew Stafford or some other young player(s) and a first round draft choice for Kaberle, and if so, would Buffalo agree? Nathan Horton Would the Sabres have to trade Roy or Tim Connelly to get Horton? Could the Sabres - perhaps - pick up Horton with the offer of a couple of younger players? Nik Antropov Here's a name I'll add to the list. If the Sabres could - somehow - pick up Kaberle and Antropov while keeping Roy, I think we would see improvement in the one area most in need of improvement: the powerplay. We've all seen what Kaberle can do on the point, and Antropov's willingness to go to the front of the net is invaluable on the powerplay.
CallawaySabres Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I, for one, love at least reading about things that could happen knowing that most likely they won't. It's all we have........
bunomatic Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Hopefully Regier and co. were disappointed enough to finally make some moves to improve this team. As we've seen in the past improvement from within,as Regier likes to call it,Rarely happens on the scale needed. And change from within rarely happens across the board but from 1 or 2 players if we're lucky. My feeling are that we need a sea change in philosophy as well as chemistry to right this ship.2 or 3 very good players thrown in the mix while finally ending the experiment on a couple or more of the long time roster players we have. Time to move on. At least we're hearing rumours which is exciting. I want movement and after 12 years of ho hum, believe me, its not for changes sake.
Buffalo Fan Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Why would Burke want Stafford? He is not a Burke type player. He's too soft and lacks dedication. I could see Burke looking at Gaustad and thinking he could get him back on track. Stafford? I just don't see. I think I would ship Gaustad without blinking. He's a nice player, but I think he can be replaced.
thesportsbuff Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I think I would ship Gaustad without blinking. He's a nice player, but I think he can be replaced. Agreed. Gaustad has size but he must've been one of the least effective players this season for the Sabres. I've lost all faith in the goose. Gaustad + Butler, Stafford + Butler, heck -- all three of them, for Kaberle is a win in my book
FogBat Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 PASabreFan, Bam Bam does invite the question of what would it cost the Buffalo Sabres - in terms of the players they'd have to give up - in order to pick up the players he named. That, and the fact that BamBam normally looks at Hockey Buzz in order to see what kind of nonsense "Eklund" can conjure up so that he can share it with us. Eklund seems to think that there are still a few blue-and-gold suckers out there who believe in his crap. However, most of us know that we can't take him seriously given the FO lineup that we have. Seriously, when have we known Darcy Regier to be a "wheeling and dealing" GM during every trade period that comes around? Nice try, Eklund. I'd probably have a heart attack if any of those predictions came true. He's better off hanging around Jeane Dixon or the National Enquirer.
shrader Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 So wait, Eklund is now citing where he steals his rumors from? Our little boy is all grown up.
korab rules Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I think I would ship Gaustad without blinking. He's a nice player, but I think he can be replaced. And for half the price. The only thing he still brings to the team is his prowess in the face off circle.
Stoner Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 And for half the price. The only thing he still brings to the team is his prowess in the face off circle. And yet Roy was Ruff's choice for lots of big draws. I have no way of finding a stat like this, but I wonder how good the Goose really is in crunch time.
BamBam Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 My thought is that they should ban your ######. Why? What crime did I commit? I posted something that mentioned the sabres. I know everyones feelings about this Eck guy, but I posted something from the SUN-SENTINEL.COM as well. I have never said that I was reporting breaking news.

I didn't invite anyone the question of what it would cost. I left it open to any and all comments. I was simply posting something that mentioned the team. As the reader you can interpret what you want.

A kind of "What-if". I posted in the subject that it was Eck. Its your choice to read it or not. Setting aside Eck there are some good journalists who post articles from their publications on that site. Nuff said.

So wait, that Sun Sentinel line wasn't pulled directly off of whatever Eklund posted? If that's the case, I take back my point about him growing up. On that note, though, you might want to try throwing in some quote boxes when you post this stuff. It helps make it a little bit more clear which stories are coming from where and also doesn't lump in your own words/thoughts with someone else's. Just a thought.
