Goosed Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 So I've been an observer of this site for a long time, only reading and not participating in the entertaining conversations that take place. This, however, does not mean that I have no voice, especially when it comes to the topic of the Sabres and athletes in general. So today a friend alerted me to this video of Patrick Kane in the celebratory parade in Chicago that took place recently after their win, and what I viewed has inspired me to make my first official post in these forums. I have very strong feelings about athletes behaving like this (and like when Kane punched a Cabby), but I'll let you make the judgments for yourself as to how you feel about this. (Enjoy) http://deadspin.com/5561311/
BuffalOhio Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 If he was on the Sabres and that was OUR Cup parade, would anybody on this board be upset about this? I didn't think so.

(Enjoy) http://deadspin.com/5561311/ He's 21 years of age. He just won the Stanley freakin' Cup. It's a parade to celebrate that. It's not like he's drinking out of a flask hidden in his jersey. And he's probably more sober than 90% of the crowd. I can't wait to hand Kaleta a beer on the float. That's all I got.
apuszczalowski Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Still think the kid is a D*ck I know he won the cup and all but how many other players did you see acting that way? Way to show he has grown up and learned from last years incidents by making jokes about them too
wjag Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Would we have even noticed if he wasn't from Buffalo? I think too much is being made about the actions of a 21 year old. You all can remember his misbehaving ways if you want, I prefer to tell people that a kid from Buffalo clinched the Stanley Cup for his team.

They briefly mentioned his joke about the cabbie on PTI today, so yeah, people outside of Buffalo noticed.

You all can remember his misbehaving ways if you want, I prefer to tell people that a kid from Buffalo clinched the Stanley Cup for his team. The part that bothers me is that when he gets his day with the Cup, he'll be bringing it home to show it off in his hometown - a city which has yet to earn the right to hoist it at City Hall. His actions won't bother me so much as the fact that we should have had our own parade a long time ago. With most of the current "leadership" at the helm of the FO, I don't see this happening anytime soon and I know that there are some people who have been longtime fans who probably feel the same way as well.
SwampD Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Look at the board on the wall behind Kane. He probably didn't write it, but it's still funny. '...not that there's anything wrong with that.'
bunomatic Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I see nothing wrong with his behaviour,if anything it's quite subdued. I'm sure the vets on his team have told him this may be his only cup celebration so enjoy it. The majority of players in this league never get to celebrate a cup win never mind more than one. Let him enjoy it while it lasts.

darksabre Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 If I just won the Stanley Cup, I would be a LOT more drunk than that. I don't see what the problem is.
Stoner Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 If I just won the Stanley Cup, I would be a LOT more drunk than that. I don't see what the problem is. Alcoholism is.
Stoner Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Actually, upon further review, I retract my comment about Kane looking like he was drunk. Correctly, he looked like he was on Meth. I regret the error.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I'm sure if Kaleta was acting like this after the Sabres won the Cup, nobody here would care. Actually, I'm sure there would be a lot of people complaining about it, because this is an internet message board and that's all people do.

(Enjoy) http://deadspin.com/5561311/ WOW!!! Freakin relax! So apparently most members on this board have never won anything significant in sports and participated in a celebration? THE GUY WON THE STANLEY CUP...THEEEEE STANNNNNLEYYYYY CUPPPPPP!!!! He is partying and enjoying the fact he scored one of the biggest goals in NHL HISTORY! That's right...NHL history! I completely agree with what I think you are trying to say (even though you didn't say it) that athletes are role models and need to act that way. But he won the CUP! I've said it before, a Buffalo athlete who is a pure superstar...Miller, Vanek and a 1st rounder, bring him here! Patrick Kane does nothing wrong in this video, ######, when the Sabres win this thing (if they ever do) you wait to see the players and fans, the Chicago party won't hold a candle to ours, pure rowdiness!
bunomatic Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 When Kane's sittin in some $hitty little pub on the south side of Buffalo all glassy eyed and unable to lift his glass much less the cup thats when I'll worry about his drinkin . This kid is just like every other red blooded twenty somethin out there. No problem here,he just won the cup. Give him a break. He earned the right to celebrate with his team mates and with the fans of Chicago.

But I guess the booze industry likes to apply that peer pressure. Kane appears to have a drinking problem. I hope he gets some help.
Stoner Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Life is for Living. If you need alcohol to feel alive, I feel sorry for you. It's a depressant.

I don't think anybody here is disagreeing with the fact "if you need alcohol to live you have a problem." But people will partake in a little beer guzzling if they are celebrating and that is what Patty is doing...celebrating.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 this thread is such a waste of time, It should be labeled "OT"

But, hey, who among us hasn't slugged a cabbie, gotten arrested, then made fun of it?
