thesportsbuff Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I love reading people try to defend him. Yeah, no one knows the circumstances, but this is nothing more than another red flag for this kid. And I love reading people trying to make a story out of nothing. You could say it's a "red flag" but until someone gives me some examples of why this kid is so immature and another "Marshawn Lynch" I'm going to stand by my opinion.

You seriously want evidence that he needs to mature? The dirty hit and the bar fight aren't enough for you? Of course, I would probably say that people defending a bar fight as if it is some kind of right of passage also need to mature a bit. If people are looking for some sort of better understanding of this situation, look no further than the fact that he was arrested. If he was justified in what he did, that would have never happened.

If people are looking for some sort of better understanding of this situation, look no further than the fact that he was arrested. If he was justified in what he did, that would have never happened. Again, I don't even think that hit was very dirty. He hit him high, so I guess that alone deserves a suspension, but in my opinion he was timing his hit and the puck took a crazy hop -- the dude stood there looking for it and got run into. If Kassian REALLY wanted to hit the dude it could have been much worse. I'd give him a penalty for a charge and maybe a minor suspension just because it was high -- but a 20 game suspension isn't really justified imo. And the bar fight (or whatever happened) is one incident. Nobody is saying it's a "right of passage" to go into a bar and start fights, but obviously when you get a bunch of dudes drinking, the smallest argument can turn into a brawl. It's certainly not an acceptable thing to do, but it doesn't even compare to what Kane did, let alone Lynch. Regardless of what went down, I'm not gonna write some guy off as a bad influence, immature tough guy just because of a little incident at a bar where nobody was hurt.. I'm just wondering why everyone keeps acting like he's a repeat offender?
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 What a dummy Kassian is! He has what the Sabres have been lacking in the forwards ranks for years... but this stunt probably guarantees him another year in the junior ranks. I doubt this stunt will have any influence on whether he makes the club or not. A minor league hockey player in a bar fight should not be a shock to anyone, especially in Canada. Kaleta and Kassian on the same line could could have the potential to bring the crowd to their feet every time they touch the ice, but I'm not sure where Kassain is defensively with his game. I think that would probably have a bigger impact on whether he makes the club or not.
cdexchange Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I'd rather have this guy going bar to bar handing out bruised lips than have Derek and Timmy going bar to bar groping each other :lol:

No offense, but if you can't see how that hit was dirty, you're crazy. He went all out human missile and dove directly at the guy's head. His intent could not have bee more clear. Quite honestly, I wish he had gotten the Cormier treatment for that hit.

It was a charge and a violent looking collision but nothing more. There was no "intent" to hurt the guy.

The hit was embarrassing, for the player and the franchise. Don't embarrass yourself by denying it.
biodork Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 I think it's funny that everyone is hung up on the fight and no one (that I saw) is asking why a 19 year-old kid was in a bar at 1:50am in the first place.
Neo Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Well we all saw Stafford go after Chris Neil when he leveled Drury a few years ago. That didn't go so well for Stafford, and now everyone on the board is calling for his head (and i agree). I'd rather have the big guy. You know, I was thinking of Stafford / Neil when I wrote my post. In my mind, that was "his" moment. In the longer run, I agree with you. His head, no. But he's not turned into the guy the moment promised.
shrader Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 I think it's funny that everyone is hung up on the fight and no one (that I saw) mentioned that he was in a bar even though he's only 19. Canada
biodork Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Canada Ah, didn't know that. Wish I had that piece of information 11 years ago!!

wonderbread Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 This incident makes me question the kids intellect. Bar fighting then getting arrested? Anyone who is anyone knows that after a good bar scuffle you need to GTFO. Why hang around and get in trouble.

When you're a celebrity - and I get the impression that a lot of juniors players have that status - there's not much use in sneaking off when the whole bar could tell the police exactly who you are.
BlueNGold Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 As much as the thought of having Kassian in the lineup excites me for what he'll bring to this team,I'm also dreading the thought of all the possible negatives he'll bring. Like the article said, this guy needs to mature. The last thing this team needs is an Avery type personality that puts himself ahead of the team. On the other hand,Kassian at his best is exactly what this team needs. +1....."Kassian at his best is exactly what this team needs."
spndnchz Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Lagace signed his contract. Three entry deal, 1.675M.
Buffalo Fan Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 I haven't had a fight in a bar. Does that make me weird? No, that's not what makes you weird  :nana:
Stoner Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 No, that's not what makes you weird  :nana: May a perverted transvestite in an 18-wheeler rear-end your avatar. No offense, Crosschecking.
