carpandean Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I had no problem with bringing Moore back, especially once his price had fallen, as a third-line center proving some depth down the middle. Another guy that I advocated for in the same role was Manny Malhotra. He's been playing very well in San Jose.

In hindsight, he looks attractive with his price falling. You just have to remember, he's not a scorer. Maybe he breaks through for 14 goals and 31 points or something, but Moore's not a 20-goal, 45-point guy. Malhotra has played well, too. Those afterthought signings for short money are the little things that make a champion.

Had they decided that Kennedy wasn't ready to make the jump, then I could have seen a signing of that nature. He was never really a scorer, but a guy who would always "compete", could win faceoffs, kill penalties, get under the other team's skin, and put in more than an average role player (at least, on the high end of it.) He could also step into a scoring line position due to injury without the same kind of dropoff as you might expect from Gaustad or Mair. While your core makes you a contender, I agree that it's those types of players that can put you over the top.

bunomatic Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Last I heard he was playing on a team thats been shut out 3 of the last 4 games.
thesportsbuff Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 lol Dominic Moore is not the cause for Montreals inspired post-season

TheChimp Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 lol Dominic Moore is not the cause for Montreals inspired post-season Well he's sure a ###### big part of it. Anyone laughing at that statement obviously hasn't been watching him. Comparing him to Paille is a disservice to Moore, if we're going to base our comparisons on FINISH in the playoffs. Moore is 100X the player Paille is, in that regard.
Two or less Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 I had no problem with bringing Moore back, especially once his price had fallen, as a third-line center proving some depth down the middle. Another guy that I advocated for in the same role was Manny Malhotra. He's been playing very well in San Jose. I agree. I wanted Moore back as well and thought he could have played well here. I really believe he got injured right before arriving or shortly after arriving which really effected his play. Despite playing hurt, the success wasn't there but the effort was, so i wasn't surprised to see him do well with Montreal. Sabres could have gotten him at a real discount rate if they had called him before training camp.

Moore is no more or less of a player than Paille is. But I'll tell you what, I appreciated Paille's effort (though sometimes questionable) and production in Buffalo far more than I appreciated the handful of points Moore scored for us.

Yeah, I completely agree. Boston used Paille in ever situation against Buffalo and he played great, with tons of energy and heart. I do not understand why so many people have such a man crush on Moore. Do the Sabres really need another diminutive center, let alone a 3rd line one? Moore with the Sabres makes absolutely no sense at all, at any price.
