What's Malkin worth?

Bill, I like your work (and congrats on the MSG.com gig), but I must respectfully respond that a couple of sportswriters theorizing about a trade doesn't mean the trade is "picking up steam." There is NFW the Penguins are going to trade Malkin.

I am not sure about that. They are so loaded at center--don't forget Staal--and are so weak on the wing that it would not surprise me. Trade Malkin for a good winger or draft picks and make Staal your number two center. Staal has always intrigued me, he seems to get left out of the shuffle in Pittsburg, but if I was GM there I'd make him a key member of the team and try and get some help at wing

Just my two cents

Nope. I'm not against trading Miller (see my comments in other threads), but the Sabres at least have to get a quality starting goalie back in any such deal.

If Pittsburgh was willing to do this deal (Malkin for Miller), I would do it. There are many reasons I say this, one of which the anti-Lindy crowd will like... Ryan Miller's "wants" ignored, I don't think he is capable of playing as many games as he does/wants to play during the regular season and have enough left for a "Halak-like" run in the playoffs... next year or ANY year. That said, if we can't win the Cup with him, based on the way we're doing things now, I would take Malkin and go with a combo of Enroth, Lalime, and Biron (if I could sign him) for the future. Risky... but we're not winning anything the way we are now.

But I believe it's moot anyway... Pittsburgh doesn't NEED Miller. Unless they were part of a 3-team trade where Miller went to someone else and Malkin came to Buffalo.
