  1. 1. How I feel about this player:

    • 5: Must keep under any circumstances.
      21
    • 4: Would like to keep; would trade only for a great return (if under contract) or would pay a premium to re-sign (if FA).
      19
    • 3: Don't care if he stays or goes; would make a fair trade (if under contract) or pay somewhat above current salary to re-sign (if FA).
      5
    • 2: Don't want him on the team, really; would trade for a somewhat lesser return (if under contract) or sign at current or lower salary (if FA).

    • 1: Get this guy off of the team, no matter what it takes.

Patrick Kaleta's wikipedia page states that his name in Polish is "Patryk Kaleta." Since the guy is at least second-generation American, and not Polish, I wonder why that's there.

I think he was one of the Kaleta boys that actually had to crawl under our cabin when we had it leveled. For that reason alone he is a 4.

He is a asset. Which means if the Sabres are actually serious about making changers his name is going to come up a lot in trade talks. I wouldn't mind him in a Sabres uniform next season but he is also nowhere near untouchable.

He brings attitude to the Sabres which they are sorely lacking and would be one of the last guys I would trade. Plus as a hometown boy he sells seats, so I doubt the Sabres would trade him. Agreed he is an asset and would have value, but I wouldn't do it. BTW how is not signing Briere looking now...

It took three seasons but the Flyers are actually getting a return on the millions they gave him.

This is for another thread but he has already gone to the ECFs with Philly.

What's the story with this car accident? He was driving and eating chili?

And Ruff wants Stafford to be shot?

WTF, it's all falling apart.

In the immortal words of John Bender, "Excuse me a sec. What are you babbling about?"

It's all right there on the SabreSpace news links page.

Kaleta's development as a player is one of the only good stories on the team right now, as far as everyone over 20 years old goes. Not re-signing him would be a slap in the face to more than just Patrick, if you ask me.

By the way, it's really disappointing that all these threads were already closed before I got a chance to post.

The alleged car accident, in Chili, New York, yes. What's this about Ruff wanting Stafford shot? You think I liked Ruff before, well, if this is true....

Mute, I kept each one open for at least one week, starting with Montador on April 27 (closed May 4). Come on, man! Not my fault that you tuned out for three weeks!

Trade any player if it improves your team.Kaletas one of my favorite players but if the return you're getting is going to improve your team you do it.Thats the name of the game.

Heart and soul. The fact that he's in every team's heads means he's done his job well. He can play hockey too. I'd love to see him fight more, and his style makes him injury prone, but you can't argue with the number of penalties he draws. It's just too bad the Brat Pack can't make the opposition pay for that.

i voted 5. you will never see someone try as hard as he does, i wouldnt even trade him for ovechkin.

haha, well i know this was an exaggeration, but a lot of people will argue that Ovechkin is the hardest working player in the game... or at least used to be. Didn't seem to have the same fire this season as previous years but just throwing that out there.

anyway I agree with you, he is a 5. i wouldn't trade him. our team needs to get tougher and trading arguably our "toughest" guy would seem counter productive.

a 4th line of Grier Ellis and Kaleta behind a 3rd line of Kennedy Hecht and Goose (if he is still here-- i hope he isnt but he will be) would be a great bottom 6..

Now I see. Yeah, put him out of his misery. I mean, they did it for Barbaro, right?

No, unfortunately, Travolta is still with us.

If they can get a decent return, trade him. He is from buffalo, blood and guts player, etc etc. I love to watch the kid play the game. But with the way he plays the game, he will be out of the league in 3 years tops. He is already becoming injury/concussion prone. If he has value, move him. Based on playoff performances, McCormick can do his job for the league minimum.

Hurt ina car? Call William Mattar... I bet it settles out of court for less than 20k.

I almost said last year that he was Andrew Peters with actual hockey talent, but he's more than that. He's more like Sean Avery - the agitator that will get under someone else's skin and then score on the resulting power play just to rub salt into the wound. This alone is why he's worth keeping.

I don't particularly need to see him fight, but he will if it comes down to that.

I'm flashing back to the Jackie Chiles character on Seinfeld.

Jackie Chiles: You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn’t tell you to put the balm on. Why’d you put the balm on? You haven’t even been to see the doctor. If you’re gonna put a balm on, let a doctor put a balm on.
