Lethbridge Broncos Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 With a healthy Hecht and Vanek -- the Sabres are not that bad up front. This club would have beat the Bruins if they had those two along with a few vets taking up key icetime. Having Gerbe, Kennedy and Ennis on the ice with Roy, Pominville, Connoly and Stafford was a JOKE. ROy is a great player, Gaustad is a fine leader, Connolly is fine --he carried the club most of the season and is a good player. But they need some more fiber in the lineup. No spareparts this time. Then they need to move Stafford. He could score 30 goals somewhere -- but he is just to inconsistant. God bless him. He forgets what kind of game he is to play -- a confussed player. He should be replaced with a strong skating winger who plays good defense and will finish checks (what Torres was supposed to be). Meyers can be the PP chief -- he has shown than ability. He is a NOrris type. They dont need a "specialist". Gone should be Stafford, Ellis and Sekara. Players to look at, and they would be expensive, are (and to deal some of the Portland kids for): D Scott Hannan F Ryan Malone F Trent Hunter D Robin Regher F Guillaume Latendresse

Supersabre Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 This is going to be a long off-season :( Amen to that! :wallbash:
SwampD Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 It doesn't matter what happens to the lineup. Lindy Ruff will still be the coach. The only way I'll be even remotely interested in watching next season is if we get Chris Pronger and Vinnie Lecavalier.
Stoner Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 This is going to be a long off-season :( I wish the amateur GM would take a cue from the actual GM, who takes the summer OFF.
CallawaySabres Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Roy or Connolly or both have to be rid from this team. The comfort level these two guys have has reached epic proportions. They could be great fillers on a team like Boston but not with this bunch. Pommenville, Vanek and Hecht are going to be successful here but only if a true #1 center is acquired. If that happens, then Roy can stay....
Lethbridge Broncos Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 No, you don't throw away TWO very talented players b/k you lost to a better team in a playoff after not being in the playoffs for two years. THe Bruins are up 2-0 now in thier 2nd series. Tukka Rask is playing like the Conn Smyth winner so far. You simply sandpaper the lineup. Let Timmy play out his K -- he is still a bargain for $4.5 a season for 70 points. Look at Miro Satan (a hero now) who was called a pus$y just like they now call Tiimy. Stupid fans. Roy is clearly a HUGE part of the club, a very good player and PKer too. THey simply need a few more vets to sprinkle in. Mair, Ellis, Stafford and Montodor should be sent packing. A few expensive vet big men should be brought in (6'3, 220) -- that can skate and get dirty in the violent parts of the ice. Hecht when healthy is an important guy and was missed. Vanek should bounce back. Meyer showed he is the leader this team has always wanted - and never had. Ruff needs to get his guys to compete with more vigor and passion every game. He needs to see if he can coach better. LAstly, both assistant coaches should be fired. RUff should have ONE assistant -- who can coach a PP unit. Who is this Meyer you speak of?? ... and why wasn't he captain??
Lethbridge Broncos Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 I assume Myers will be captain in less than two years. With the Canadian world team now -- he is quickly getting all the right experience. Good post by you, however. Who is this Meyer you speak of?? ... and why wasn't he captain??
wjag Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 This is going to be a long off-season :( Aren't they all?
millerhightime1812 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I am in fantasy land here.. but if the sabres wanted to sign a #1 center I think Plekanec could be the guy. This could be possible salary wise if we somehow get rid of rivet and stafford to make room for Plekanec's payraise. The next move would be to let either Lydman or Tallinder go in free agency and trade away Gaustad to hopefully provide enough cap for the free agent, Volchenkov. And for the back up goaltender we could probably pick up a cheap Marty Biron to take over for Lalime. With those couple of moves our team looks like this and I havent done the calculations yet on the cap but it should be pretty close to being under.. And let me know what you guys think Hecht Plekanec Pominville Vanek Roy Mancari Kennedy Connelly Ennis Kaleta McCormick Grier 13th forward gerbe: didnt really know where to put him Myers Tallinder Montador Volchenkov Butler Weber 7th d-man Sekera Miller Biron

biodork Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 And for the back up goaltender we could probably pick up a cheap Marty Biron to take over for Lalime. I love Marty's personality and I know he loves Buffalo, but unless he is going to be satisfied playing backup, I don't see it working out... I think he still wants a chance to be #1, and while he might be an upgrade over Lalime (all depends on how the guys play in front), Patty is much more accepting of his role and is obviously well-liked by the rest of the team. If Marty did come back, I'd much rather it be to replace Harry Neale! :D

No sane person watching nhl hockey for 2 weeks would fail to see that Lalime is a complete bust. You've been following this game for how long? You don't have clue one!

And you like to repeat yourself. Lalime had better stats this year than Biron. Try to wrap your head around that one.
