Stoner Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 March 10, 1981 Scotty Bowman continues his dismantling of the Sabres of the 70s by trading Rick Martin and Don Luce to the Los Angeles Kings. Martin fetches a first-round pick Buffalo uses to select Tom Barrasso in 1983. Luce, sadly, brings only a sixth-rounder and cash. March 10, 2000 The Sabres trade Michal Grosek to Chicago for Doug Gilmour and J.P. Dumont. They also send Wayne Primeau, Brian Holzinger, Cory Sarich and a third-round pick in the upcoming draft for Chris Gratton and a second-round pick in 2001. March 10, 2002 The Sabres bomb former teammate Dominik Hasek from the nets as they defeat the Red Wings at sold-out HSBC Arena, 5-1. Miro Satan scores two goals as the Sabres win for the third straight time and creep to within a game of the elusive .500 mark.
jp... Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Pretty good day i'd say... I was at that Hasek game...sat 5 rows behind his net...one of the best games at the HSBC ever...that Gratton goal was priceless That Grosek trade still baffles me... Big mistake loosing Sarich though...
Stoner Posted March 10, 2006 Author Report Posted March 10, 2006 Yeah, with the benefit of 20/20 eyes in the back of your head, they did overpay for Gratton. But Darcy did fix the "Gratton Problem," didn't he? Yep, you kind of pine for the days when Darcy would regularly fleece his counterparts. What happened? Did word get out? Watch out for ole Darce, he'll pick your pocket and leave you smiling...
IKnowPhysics Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 They also send Wayne Primeau, Brian Holzinger, Cory Sarich and a third-round pick in the upcoming draft for Chris Gratton and a second-round pick in 2001. Do the addition of Gratton + 4th round pick for Briere + 3rd pick, you get: Wayne Primeau + Holzinger + Sarich + 3rd rd pick + 4th rd pick = 2nd rd pick + Briere + 3rd rd pick This equation reduces to: Primeau + Holzinger +Sarich + 4th = Briere + 2nd Figure Sarich + Holzinger might be enough to cover talented Briere, and you still get a 2nd rd pick for mere Primeau and a 4th rd pick. Net gain for Sabres. Other notable chain-deal for Regier: March 23,1999 Mike Wilson to Florida for Rhett Warrener and a 1999 5th round draft pick (Ryan Miller) July 03,2003 Sabres send Keith Ballard to Colorado for Steve Reinprecht. Sabres then trade Rhett Warrener and Steve Reinprecht to Calgary for Chris Drury and Steve Begin Wilson + Ballard = Drury + Begin + 5th rd Evolved in time... Wilson + Ballard = Drury + Miller
puma2577 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 that gratton goal against dom was priceless. i've been to both games that he's played here (coincidental) and he's a basket case when he plays here now.
Knightrider Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 This equation reduces to: Primeau + Holzinger +Sarich + 4th = Briere + 2nd F The thing I'm trying to figure out is did that 2nd round pick end up being Roy, Pominville, or Thorburn?
Taro T Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 The thing I'm trying to figure out is did that 2nd round pick end up being Roy, Pominville, or Thorburn? Roy.
Corp000085 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 You can do those chains all night long and they always end up rosey for the buffalo sabres! Hey, do the hasek equation... that seemed to work out fairly well for the team that the blackhawks traded with. Same with the mogilny deal.
