We can sit here and nitpick until we're blue in the face. But the NHL wanted parity and they got it. Between free agency, salary cap, number of teams and competition from Europe...... the NHL has become a league of mediocrity. Not saying the league overall is mediocre, but the talent is widespread and there are no teams that are/should be considered dominant. Yes, some are generally better in the postseason than others, but the days of dynasties are long gone. EVERY team in the league has it's weak points and EVERY team in the league has gone through it's slumps with upset fans calling for major trades and termination of coaches. Yes, even the best teams. Any significant changes to teams usually result in short term success. BFLO could make wholesale changes but for all we know it could turn out for the worse and in that case it'll be a long road. I like the fact that we have many of our core player signed to long term deals so we know what to expect (bad or good). Every team has their Derek Roys, Pominvilles, Connollys, etc..... nobody can name one player that has gone through an entire season in dominant form. Minor trades and concentrating on the weak points during the offseason is important, but starting with a clean slate is not the answer.

It was sarcastic. I was implying you can pull a name out of a hat and they could have done just as well. He!!, you and I could have done just as well. The larger point is no Lord Stanleys Cup in Buffalo. Not just this season, but for the entire tenure of Regier/Ruff. You don't think you and I or Joe and Blow or Cindy and Sandy or whoever else couldn't achieve no Stanley Cups in Buffalo?

Yeah, I assumed as much, but there are probably a lot of people out there who would absolutely love that idea. Let's not put ideas in their head.

And anyone else could've put up just as many cups, but they also could have run the team into the ground, leaving no team behind. Obviously Buffalo is far better off without that happening.

The team overachieved. Very few thought it would win the division. Tell me what coach other than Ruff would have brought this group of guys to a division title, and whether that coach would have won in the first round w/o Hecht and Vanek.

The problem is the person who put these guys together. The question is whether that person is Darcy Regier or Larry Quinn. I know enough about Quinn to know that he at least had a hand in it. How much of a factor he is, I don't know.

I'm sorry but how hard is it to write Miller's name on the lineup sheet?

There is a serious problem with player development in this organization.

MacArthur and Paillie were so bad the team actually dumped them.

Sekera and Butler took huge steps backwards.

Stafford is heading the way of Paillie and MacArthur.

That is five players that the Sabres were counting on this season that failed miserably. That's a quarter of the opening day roster? That's not even counting the mess on the blueline and the so called "top six."

This roster continues to have the same problems year after year and nothing changes or improves. That has to go to coaching to a point.
