BillHoppe Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 No shock there. He's skating with Ellis and Vanek. Gerbe's beside Mair and McCormick.
SwampD Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 No shock there. He's skating with Ellis and Vanek. Gerbe's beside Mair and McCormick. What does this mean?
LabattBlue Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 What does this mean? It either means he is hurt again or they didn't do their homework on him prior to the trade and found out once he got here, that he isn't a good fit for whatever reason.
Stoner Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 What does this mean? Stafford has pictures of Lindy with Hull's foot in his crease.
Buffalo Wings Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 What does this mean? Maybe that Ellis, Vanek, & Torres are the possible scratches? Could it be the other way around - Gerbe, Mair, & McCormick are the scratches? I was really hoping for a Vanek return tonight.
SwampD Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 It's a good lead, though. I guess I have to go buy a copy of the Olean Times Herald to find out what he meant.

You really have to wonder why the last 3 deadline pickups were all very productive players with their old team, but came here and did absolutely nothing. How can they produce with lesser teams and then add nothing here? I think I'm siding with old man PA on the reason for that one.
smithers32990 Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 If our bigger guys are getting knocked on their a**es all series what do you think is gonna happen to gerbe?!?! love him as a player but not for this series.

I guess I have to go buy a copy of the Olean Times Herald to find out what he meant. "Looks like Torres out tonight, Gerbe in" I think he means it looks like Torres is out of the lineup tonight, and that Gerbe is in it. "No shock there" This part means Bill is not surprised (that Gerbe would play over Torres) "He's skating with Ellis and Vanek." Means that at the morning skate, Torres is skating with two injured players, and Bill concludes Torres will be a scratch. "Gerbe's beside Mair and McCormick." Gerbe (who has not been playing) skated on a line with two people who are expected to play. Bill concludes Gerbe will be the one to take Torres' roster spot. I suppose you could buy a copy of the Olean Times Herald, but that would only help you this time. Maybe this would give you a better return. You know, teach a man to fish and all.

R_Dudley Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 If our bigger guys are getting knocked on their a**es all series what do you think is gonna happen to gerbe?!?! love him as a player but not for this series. I agree in prinicpal based on what we've seen and if it wasn't the 5th game of the series I would agree 100%. But there is one thing to consider here. This series has been one of the more physical series. Both teams cannot keep up that physical pace and Boston is the older team. I wanted Buffalo to counter Bostons system earlier in the series with their speed to get behind the defensive wall Boston has thrown up at the blue line. I know that can lead to some breakdowns going back the other way but that has been the game they played all year and Miller has been very successful in that style and those breakaway saves seem to ignite his team more than what the other players are providing. One game left to test that theory and if it works it could be the momentum breaker this team has needed. Besides if we fail might as well make it an epic failure where we throw everything at them including the kitchen sink and go down in blaze of glory or failure. Enough of this "Katie bar the door". Kick it in or get kicked out.

I didn't know he was reporting from the morning skate and that Vanek was still not in. He says he's out and then says he's skating. Whatever, you're still a pain in the Ennis.
BillHoppe Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 Yes, Torres is out and Gerbe's in. Vanek's out.
spndnchz Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Ennis-Roy-Pominville Stafford-Kennedy-Kaleta Gerbe-Mair-McCormick Connolly-Gaustad-Grier Would be my guess.

nobody Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 I said this in the GDT but seems like everyone is commenting here... Why oh why are Stafford and Connolly still in??? Leave Torres in and also put Mancari in. Let Torres play on the power play.

Leave Torres in and also put Mancari in. Let Torres play on the power play. Exactly. Taking Torres out and leaving Stafford in is a head-scratcher.

Leave Torres in and also put Mancari in. Let Torres play on the power play. Unless he's hurt, I'd rather see Torres in there instead of Stafford, as well. I understand why Connolly is in there though. He just has too much skill to not be in there. If only he decided that he wanted to be a hockey player, who knows how good he could be?
Eleven Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Dammit. Put Torres where Vanek was and put Mancari where Stafford was.
nobody Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 I understand why Connolly is in there though. He just has too much skill to not be in there. If only he dicided that he wanted to be a hockey player, who knows how good he could be? Having the skill and using it are two different things. Are we hoping that since it is do or die that will make Connolly flip the switch back on? He'll probably score a pp goal in a 4-1 loss tonight and he, Lindy, Darcy and some fans will be content that his playoff game is back again so we'll be able to expect great things next playoffs, if the team makes it.

We've been hoping for that for about a decade, what's one more night?
shrader Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Theoren Fleury sucked too.... :bag: So now all we need is for Gerbe to start using crack? Well, he did go to BC... Unless he's hurt, I'd rather see Torres in there instead of Stafford, as well. I understand why Connolly is in there though. He just has too much skill to not be in there. If only he decided that he wanted to be a hockey player, who knows how good he could be? This team has no centers, so Connolly pretty much has to be out there.
